Secure Your Minecraft Server

A publicly accessible Minecraft server should have basic security measures to prevent griefing, exploits, and unauthorized access.

DDoS Protection

Mado Hosting provides automatic DDoS protection for all servers. You don't need to configure anything - the protection is enabled by default.

Restrict Operator Rights

Only give OP rights to trusted individuals. OP players have near-full control over the server. A permission system like LuckPerms is better, allowing you to grant specific permissions.

Anti-Cheat Plugin

Install an anti-cheat plugin to detect cheaters and hackers:

  • Vulcan - One of the best anti-cheats for Paper

  • NoCheatPlus - Free and proven

  • Matrix - Lightweight alternative
  • Grief Protection

  • CoreProtect - Logs all block changes and allows rollbacks

  • WorldGuard - Protects defined areas from changes

  • GriefPrevention - Claim-based protection for players
  • Rules and Moderation

Set clear server rules and appoint moderators. Use plugins like EssentialsX for commands like /ban, /mute, and /kick.

    SFTP Access

Don't share your SFTP credentials with others. Use the subuser feature to give admins limited access without sharing your password.
