CustomSwatches
Custom swatches via JSON, auto color by category, and 3 Blueprint paint modes for mass recoloring.
Description
This mod enhances the vanilla swatch system in Satisfactory with three core features:
Add Custom Swatches
Create your own color schemes in a simple JSON file. No C++ knowledge required. Define primary color, secondary color, emissive/glow, and roughness. 13 ready-to-use swatches are included (Caterium Yellow, Copper Orange, Iron Blue, Steel Grey, Quartz White, Sulfur Green, Uranium Green Glow, Nitrogen Purple, Bauxite Silver, Coal Black, Oil Red, Nuclear Purple Glow, Unpainted Marker).
Automatic Category Swatch Assignment
Buildings automatically receive the correct swatch based on their class:
Power: Power Poles, Power Towers, Circuit Bridges, Power Storage, Priority Switches
PowerGen: Coal/Fuel/Nuclear/Geothermal Generators
Miner: Resource Miners, Oil/Water Extractors, Fracking Nodes
Production: Smelters, Constructors, Assemblers, Manufacturers, Refineries, Blenders, Packagers, Particle Accelerators
Logistics: Conveyor Belts, Pipes, Splitters, Mergers, Lifts, Resource Sinks, Valves, Pumps
Storage: Containers, Fluid Buffers
Transport: Trains, Vehicles, Drones, Hypertubes, Jump Pads
Foundations: Foundations, Ramps
Architecture: Walls, Pillars, Stairs, Walkways, Signs, Lights, Decoration
Defense: Snow Cannons and more
Auto-assignment only applies to buildings still using the default swatch. Already painted buildings are left untouched.
Three Blueprint Paint Modes for the Build Gun
Blueprint All: Recolors EVERY building inside the same blueprint. Perfect for painting complete modules in one go.
Blueprint Mode (Unpainted-Target): Only recolors buildings with the "Unpainted Marker" swatch. Power Poles, belts, foundations (which keep their category swatch) are SKIPPED. Perfect for smelter blueprints: smelters get colored per product, infrastructure stays in category colors.
Category Select: Only recolors buildings of a specific category inside a blueprint. E.g., recolor all generators without touching production buildings.
Everything configurable via DefaultModConfig.ini: UnpaintedMarker slot, Category-Swatch mappings, default paint mode. New swatches are added via user_swatches.json in the Saved folder.

Frequently Asked Questions
CustomSwatches not working after update – what to do?
After a Satisfactory update, mods need to be updated. Check ficsit.app whether CustomSwatches has been updated for the new game version. With Mado Hosting: open the mod manager and click "Update All". If the mod hasn't been updated yet, temporarily remove it so the server starts.
CustomSwatches causing crashes in multiplayer – solution
Most common cause: all players must have exactly the same mod version installed. Check server logs for "ModMismatch" or "Version Conflict". Ensure all players use CustomSwatches and the same SML. With Mado Hosting, Satisfactory servers run with 6 GB RAM for stable multiplayer performance.
Is CustomSwatches compatible with other Satisfactory mods?
CustomSwatches uses the Satisfactory Mod Loader (SML). Generally, SML-based mods are cross-compatible, but mods modifying the same game systems can cause conflicts. Test new mod combinations on a backup save. The Mado dashboard automatically detects known conflicts and warns you.
