Introduction

This mod adds energy consumption to all belts, including modded belts, and optionally the splitters and mergers. They now require a cable-powered Belt Control Unit (unlocked T0 automatically).

Background

Using conveyor belts in vanilla Satisfactory comes with no penalty, they are easy to place and are generally always better than using vehicular transport from a mere technical (disregarding immersive) perspective. This mod is aimed at balancing the game by requiring the player to power their belts, and (optionally) the attachments. It also adds strategic management since the player has to be mindful of their belt system. Plus now the player has a reason to produce more power!

Instructions

The mod is easy to use.

When you install the mod all belts will be disabled and not transport anything. Build a Belt Control Unit and connect it to a power grid in order to make the belts move again but be mindful that you must have enough electricity or the fuse will blow.

Warning: It is highly recommended that you plan ahead before installing the mod on an existing save game, or there can be chaos, i.e. build some extra power generators. The belts on my mid/end-game save took 5000 MW during testing.

Configurability

Mod configuration found in main menu contains adjustable energy cost sliders to alter the mod's default values.

Compatibility

The mod is (currently) incompatible with mods which add a variable belt speed. A fix to this requires extra programming as it now gets the values from defaults. The belts will return to their default speed if they had a custom setting, now.

The mod is however able to use belts from other mods, also their belt attachments (as long as the author uses base game assets as parent classes).

Known bugs

- If fuse blows belts may refuse to run again unless player reloads the save game.
- Power consumption may not always be calculated immediately after the Belt Control Unit has been built and belts run without power

Aware of the bugs. They're on the todo-list. Also a balance patch is due, the consumption default is too high after play-testing, meanwhile you can adjust it manually in the mod's config.

Frequently Asked Questions

Powered Conveyor Belts not working after update – what to do?

After a Satisfactory update, mods need to be updated. Check ficsit.app whether Powered Conveyor Belts has been updated for the new game version. With Mado Hosting: open the mod manager and click "Update All". If the mod hasn't been updated yet, temporarily remove it so the server starts.

Powered Conveyor Belts causing crashes in multiplayer – solution

Most common cause: all players must have exactly the same mod version installed. Check server logs for "ModMismatch" or "Version Conflict". Ensure all players use Powered Conveyor Belts v1.0.1 and the same SML. With Mado Hosting, Satisfactory servers run with 6 GB RAM for stable multiplayer performance.

Is Powered Conveyor Belts compatible with other Satisfactory mods?

Powered Conveyor Belts uses the Satisfactory Mod Loader (SML). Generally, SML-based mods are cross-compatible, but mods modifying the same game systems can cause conflicts. Test new mod combinations on a backup save. The Mado dashboard automatically detects known conflicts and warns you.
