About this Modpack
Hello, Hi and Welcome.
I have been planning this modpack in a google doc for a few weeks before the first release version, and roughly week of in-game testing. This modpack was initially for use with a friend group, but i have decided to make it a public modpack.
This tech modpack is partly inspired by Tekkit and by direwolf20's FTB modpacks, but as i wished to mod a modern version of the game it meant i wouldn't be able to use IndustrialCraft, Buildcraft and Redpower, i have opted to skip Project Red for now as i do not wish to bother with adding in mods from outside of modrinth, me lazy.
Thus i have chosen the Thermal series of mods to replace most of IC2's gameplay loop, and Extreme Reactors for nuclear energy. The feature i wanted most out of Buildcraft was oil processing which i have replaced with the Diesel Generators addon for Create, initially i had planned for Immersive Petrolium for Immersive Engineering but it is complicated and not on modrinth so rip. All the other mods are ones i found to be very nice to use, and also a handful of performance mods. Oh and there is also Distant Horisons, i am in love with Distant Horisons.
I have not made any configurations to the config files of Almost Unified as i had found no issues in my first round of testing.
Performance has been deemed very good on a Laptop with a 9750H and a 1660ti, setting the allocated ram to 4 gigs should do the job quite well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dav's Special Sauce server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Dav's Special Sauce server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Dav's Special Sauce without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Dav's Special Sauce server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
