About this Modpack

For those who want a true Wilderness experience...
Exodus TFC is a pack based around TerraFirmaCraft, a mod that set out to "reinvent survival mode" while also adding optimization mods and addons for an all-around realistic world (don't worry, this isn't RLcraft!)

Spawn in an Overhauled world, with new flora, fauna, and even climate!
Thrive off the earth's resources from humble straw and lumber to the cusp of the Industrial age

...And of course, more! To be quite honest I mostly made this for myself to experience TFC personally, but I'm quite pleased of how this pack turned out. Enjoy!

for Server Owners

In server.properties, ensure the worldtype is set to "tfc\:overworld", otherwise you'll end up in a vanilla world with very broken mechanics.

I'd also highly recommend setting the difficulty to Hard, this ensures monsters spawn with the new gear.

Make sure not only the mods are present, but that you add the configs, defaultconfigs, and scripts folders and their contents to the srver BEFORE RUNNING THE SERVER so the modpack is configured properly.

I would also recommend removing Embeddium, Flerovium, Oculus, RyoamicLights, True Darkness, CIT Resewn, Splasher, DynamicFPS, ImmediatelyFast, Fast Ip Ping, Logical Zoom, Make Bubbles Pop, Remove Reloading Screen, and Toast Begone, as these are client-side mods and will crash the server.

If you arent finding any animals on servers during testing, remove Respawning Animals. I'm not sure why it works so well in singleplayer and pretty badly in multiplayer.

If you like, you can also use Chunky to pregenerate chunks for your server. more information on that here.

How to Set Up a Exodus TFC Server

Order Server

Choose at least 6 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for Exodus TFC). Based on player count: per 5 players.

Install Modpack in Dashboard

Open the modpack browser in the dashboard, search for "Exodus TFC" and click "Install". The neoforge loader and Minecraft 1.20.1 are configured automatically.

Start Server & Play

Start the server – all mods are loaded automatically. Share the server IP with friends and play together!

Frequently Asked Questions

Exodus TFC server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong neoforge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Exodus TFC server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Exodus TFC without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (neoforge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Exodus TFC server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time.
