About this Modpack

Factorial: Sodium

The modern optimization experience, supercharged.

Other Optimizers vs. Factorial

Before you begin: The Factorial team HIGHLY recommends users to allocate more RAM to the game, this helps the game to perform better interms of performance.

Factorial: Sodium is the powerhouse version of the Factorial modpack, built around Sodium as its core rendering engine. If you're on Fabric and want the best raw FPS gains the modern modding ecosystem has to offer, this is your pick.

Why Sodium?

Sodium rewrites Minecraft's rendering engine from the ground up, and the results speak for themselves. It consistently outperforms OptiFine in raw frame output, making it the go-to choice for players who want maximum performance with a modern, actively maintained codebase. Paired with the wider Fabric ecosystem, the possibilities don't stop there.

Low-End & High-End Friendly

Factorial: Sodium is built to scale. On low-end machines, Sodium's efficient rendering pipeline dramatically reduces GPU and CPU overhead, turning unplayable framerates into smooth ones. On high-end machines, it removes the ceiling, letting your hardware run at its full potential without vanilla's rendering bottlenecks holding it back.

What's Included?

Alongside Sodium, this pack includes the full suite of companion mods: Lithium, Phosphor, Embeddium, and more, covering physics simulation, lighting, memory management, and entity rendering. Everything is pre-configured so you can jump straight into a smooth experience without touching a single mod.

Compatibility

  • ✅ Full Fabric mod ecosystem support
  • ✅ Compatible with Iris Shaders for shader pack support
  • ✅ Works with most modern resource packs
  • ⚠️ Not compatible with OptiFine-based shaders or mods by design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Factorial: Sodium server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Factorial: Sodium server really need?

Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 8 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €8/month).

Can I add custom mods to Factorial: Sodium without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.21.11). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Factorial: Sodium server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
