About this Modpack

Welcome!

This modpack expands upon my previous modpack, Fictionally Created, focusing less on vanilla gameplay aspects and more on combat, engineering, farming, and exploration. In my opinion, it is best to jump in blind, but if you are curious about some key features, they are described in part below. Also, you can check for specific mods by selecting a modpack version and searching the list of mods therein (Ctrl+F recommended).

Combat

NOTE: Combat is currently not directly adjusted for balance purposes. However, as the mods used for combat at least intersect for purposes of being compatible with the state of combat in vanilla Minecraft, it should not be wildly unbalanced. I am not opposed to doing specific balance passes down the line either.

Expect combat to be deeper and somewhat more difficult as Better Combat and Combat Roll take center stage, joined by the wonderful RPG Series mods by ZsoltMolnarrr. Players are encouraged to explore different combat approaches, including support, damage, and tanking roles, but without strict adherence to the "Holy Trinity" approach to classes. As players gather experience, they earn skill points for a skill tree from Simply Skills (default key K) with which players of Path of Exile will immediately be familiar (though much like PoE, the tree is not as insane as it may seem when zoomed out). The experience for this tree is earned through combat specifically; take advantage of nights!

Engineering

Engineering broadly is centered around Create, with Botania intended as a secondary/additional set of options, neither mod needing introduction. Create specifically has several addons alongside it, such as Crafts & Additions, Steam & Rails, Create Jetpack, and more. For those unfamiliar with Create or Botania, REI is included for recipes (search for items from either with "@create" or "@botania" in REI to find things quicker!) and Botania has its own handy guide book with a cheap recipe.

Applied Energistics 2 is included, but note that large amounts of storage can be relatively easily accomplished with backpacks and chests. As a result AE2 may not be as central to large storage as some players may be used to, but may become increasingly necessary as the player journeys farther throughout the world.

Farming

Farming is perhaps the closest aspect to Vanilla in this pack, primarily expanded rather than fundamentally changed. Farmer's Delight and several of its addons are included, as well as Spice of Fabric, which allows players to substantially increase their maximum health (currently to a maximum of double the vanilla maximum) by eating a variety of different meals, as well as diminishing the usefulness of eating the same things repeatedly. Cooking integrates with Create automation as well though, so like many aspects of gameplay, this can be partially automated to streamline upkeep.

Exploration

Nearly every aspect of exploration has been enriched and expanded here. Many, many new structures and dungeons are able to be found throughout the world, and of course, looted! The terrain generation is overhauled thanks to Terralith, resulting in new sights and landscapes to use, and generally larger biomes as well. Most important to progression however, is End Remastered. In this pack, players must now search the world for the eyes to open the portal to the End, as well as doing some miscellaneous activities such as looting Pillager outposts, exploring Desert Temples, and more! Note that with the help of Nature's Compass, players can pinpoint specific biomes (and structures with Explorer's Compass) should they be unable to find them via traditional means.

In accordance with these changes in environment, players have additional tools to explore. Players can climb with a Spider Backpack from Traveler's Backpack, soar across ravines using a Hang Glider, dive deeper for longer with Create's Backtank, double triple jump with the Air Hop enchantment, and more!

The following mods are used from CurseForge:

Structory: Towers by botanydev

Bedrock Breakers by XanthianZ

Advanced Compass by dmitrylovin

Frequently Asked Questions

Fictionally ReCreated server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 10 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Fictionally ReCreated server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 10 GB for stable performance. per 4 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Fictionally ReCreated without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Fictionally ReCreated server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 10 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
