About this Modpack

Make tea, not war Gentle Brew makes combat unnecessary so you can focus on exploration and building. Monsters are neutral instead of hostile, and killing won't yield any drops or experience. Instead, you can offer treats to creatures and monsters to receive gifts from them, and experience can be gained from brewing and farming.

Hold Ctrl while looking at a mob through a spyglass to see what gifts it prefers.

More to explore Archaeology has been expanded, wandering traders have new wares, fishing yields biome-specific loot and cobble generators create more stone types. Brewing and enchanting can be accessed earlier in the game, with new brewing recipes and more control over enchantments. Paintings are locked to their specific variants and can be collected all over the world from fishing, trading and more.

Advancements offer a guide to progression as well as goals to pursue. Many of these goals offer rewards like tools, paintings or even diamonds once completed.

No villagers, no End A few enchantments, mobs and the End have been removed to cultivate a more relaxing vibe and make room for new kinds of progression. Gentle Brew avoids adding new registries as much as possible, meaning no new modded blocks or items. Instead, items have been repurposed with new looks, names, uses and mechanics. Custom info tabs, tooltips and advancements guide the way.

Wandering traders offer valuable items in exchange for a good meal. They are a source of several unique paintings. Send them away if you don't want to trade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gentle Brew server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Gentle Brew server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Gentle Brew without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Gentle Brew server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
