About this Modpack

🚀 Hardly Optimised

The definitive Fabric performance pack for 1.16.5 → 1.21.x

Tested on i5-4570/4GB DDR3/Tiny11 - No theoretical benchmarks!

⚠️ Critical Warning: Minecraft 1.21.5-1.21.7 Unsupported

All versions between 1.21.5 and 1.21.7 suffer from severe Intel GPU freezes (Mojang-confirmed bug).

  • No longer supported in this modpack
  • No stability fixes will be backported
  • Upgrade to 1.21.8 immediately for crash fixes

This is not optional if you use:

  • Intel UHD
  • Any integrated GPU
  • Low-end systems

Continuing to use 1.21.5-1.21.7 may corrupt worlds during freezes.

🔬 Proven Performance

Hardware Validation

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 (4C/4T @ 3.2GHz)
  • RAM: 4GB DDR3-1600 (single-channel)
  • OS: Tiny11 23H2 (600MB idle RAM usage)
  • Storage: DRAM-less SATA SSD

Real-World FPS

Version FPS Settings RAM Usage
1.16.5 47-164 8 chunks, Fast 1.4GB
1.20.4 55-106 6 chunks, Fancy 2.9GB
1.21.8 76-114 6 chunks 3.2GB

🎯 Version Guide

1.16.5 - The Low-End Champion

  • Best for: 4GB RAM systems
  • Key Mods:
    • Sodium-Fabric (1.16.5 fork)
    • Phosphor (lighting optimizations)
    • FastChest (container lag fix)

⚖️ 1.20.1 - The Modding king

  • Requires: 8GB+ RAM for modded play
  • Shaders: Iris works but cuts FPS by 40% on HD 4600

⚖️ 1.20.4 - The Balanced Choice

  • Requires: 8GB+ RAM for modded play
  • Shaders: Iris works but cuts FPS by 40% on HD 4600(tricked shaders reccomended)

🚧 1.21.8 - The Future (With Caveats)

  • Critical Fix: Intel GPU crash patches
  • Work In Progress: Some mods still updating

⚠️ 4GB DDR3 Limitations

  • Max Settings:
    • 6 chunk render distance
    • 0 mipmap levels
    • No shaders/texture packs
  • Must:
    • Close all background apps
    • Use Tiny11/AtlasOS

How to Set Up a Hardly optimised Server

1

Order Server

Choose at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended for Hardly optimised). Based on player count: per 8 players.

2

Install Modpack in Dashboard

Open the modpack browser in the dashboard, search for "Hardly optimised" and click "Install". The fabric loader and Minecraft 1.21.10 are configured automatically.

3

Start Server & Play

Start the server – all mods are loaded automatically. Share the server IP with friends and play together!

Frequently Asked Questions

Hardly optimised server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Hardly optimised server really need?

Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 8 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €8/month).

Can I add custom mods to Hardly optimised without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.21.10). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Hardly optimised server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
