About this Modpack

A hardcore, post-apocalyptic dark fantasy modpack.
Civilization has collapsed into folklore. What remains is a world that resists you at every level: your body, your environment, and the systems you rely on to stay alive.

🌒 Survival Is the Core System
Gameplay stays close to vanilla at the start—movement, tools, and exploration feel familiar—but survival systems are expanded. Players must manage:
- Thirst
- Temperature
- Sanity
- Limb damage and injury
📖 Progression
Your story begins with nothing.
Survive the wilderness. Manage thirst, temperature, injury, and hunger while scavenging the remains of a forgotten civilization.
Establish a safe settlement. Earn the trust of villages, explore dangerous ruins, and uncover fragments of lost knowledge.
Master engineering and ritual craft. Build machines, automate production, and construct the vehicles needed to cross vast distances.
Venture into reclaimed dimensions. Gather the twelve Forgotten Eyes and uncover the path to the End.
Face horrors buried beneath the world, embrace curses and transformations, and decide what parts of your humanity are worth preserving.
The farther you travel, the stranger the world becomes.
🗺️ The World Pushes Back
Villages and settlements are persistent systems, not loot hubs. Stealing affects NPC behavior over time. Many containers are locked and require lockpicking. Reputation and aggression have consequences.

⚙️ Engineering the Impossible
The old world is gone.
What remains are fragments of forgotten science, broken machinery, and a mysterious ore known as Wanderlite—a substance capable of binding physical laws to blocks.
Using the Wanderwand, players can infuse structures with motion, lift, force, and momentum.
There are no vanilla boats. No convenient vehicles. No easy way across oceans, mountains, or the endless wilderness. Movement must be engineered.
Build steam-powered ships capable of crossing entire seas. Construct massive airships suspended beneath balloons. Create mobile bases, mechanical elevators, railways, factories, and automated production networks.
With Create, Clockwork, Valkyrien Skies, and dozens of supporting systems, the world becomes an engineer's playground where entire cities can move, factories can think, and transportation becomes a challenge to overcome rather than a convenience granted.
The farther you wish to go, the more ambitious your creations must become.

🌌 Reclaimed Dimensions
The Nether and End are no longer transitional spaces.
Each dimension has been reworked into a fully realized environment with its own progression, threats, and pacing.
The End is no longer a boss rush
Access requires 12 unique Forgotten Eyes
Progression is gated and intentional

🪄 Ritual Magic, Alchemy & Transformation
Magic is no longer a system of spells or instant power.
It is slow, deliberate, and often irreversible.
Built primarily around Hexerei, magic takes the form of ritual, preparation, and practical craft rather than raw force.

🩸 Blood and Curses
Not all magic is controlled.
Some paths lead to transformation—states that blur the line between ability and affliction.
Vampires and werewolves roam the land...join their ranks, and your new abilities are paired with restrictions, dependencies, and vulnerabilities.

🍎 An Apple A Day...
The world did not fall to war, dragons, or demons...It fell to infection.
The Virus consumed the old world, leaving only ruins and the undead that wander them. Those infected do not truly die—their minds remain trapped inside bodies they no longer control. If you are infected with this virus, make haste to cure if or be trapped within a zombified body that you cannot control.
Golden Apples can cure the infection and revive your recently dead friends if fed to their corpse.
Enchanted Golden Apples can restore flesh and blood to those reduced to living skeletons.
In a dying world, an apple may be worth more than a kingdom.
☠️ Death Is Not the End
Death is only another path.
When you die, your soul leaves your body and becomes a wandering spirit. If you can manage to find and possess one of the inert skeletal corpses littering the world, you can continue your journey in a skeletal form with all of its advantages and drawbacks...or ascend high into the sky to be reincarnated far elsewhere in the world.
However, be advised that death leaves scars. Die in the Nether and your soul becomes corrupted. Die in The End and you will be permanently warped — a fate not even an Enchanted Golden Apple can reverse.

🩸 Horror That Creeps, Not Jumps
Not every threat rushes toward you.
Some creatures stalk from the darkness. Some emerge only under specific conditions. Others wait patiently for a careless mistake.
The world is not merely dangerous.
It is haunted.

🕯️ Sculk Is No Longer Contained
The Deep Dark is no longer a buried ruin - it is alive. Sculk spreads beyond the ancient cities, reclaiming caves, structures, and entire underground ecosystems. Disturb infected regions long enough, and the world itself begins to react: wildlife becomes corrupted, darkness grows unsafe, and strange events begin occurring far from where the infection first started. Some creatures hunt by sound. Others seem to hunt by you. What was once sealed beneath the world is beginning to return.

Frequently Asked Questions
HexCraft server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a HexCraft server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to HexCraft without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
HexCraft server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
