About this Modpack

Horror Economy : Apocalypse Hardcore Economy Modpack

What is this modpack?

Horror Economy is a survival, horror‑themed hardcore modpack built around a player economy. Fight the Spore infection, tune your base defenses, and use shops & money generators to survive — but every death costs you money. Expect a gradual difficulty ramp: early game is calmer, then threats intensify.

Quickstart (important commands)

  • /shop — open the server shop UI
  • /money — check your balance
  • /pay <player> <value> — send money to someone
  • /ah — open Auction House
  • /ah sell <price> — list an item on AH for sale

Tip: Use /shop and /ah often — ammo, medical supplies and generators are available.

Core Gameplay Loop

  1. Secure a small, well‑lit base (light levels reduce spawns).
  2. Complete early exploration and collect Spore drops to sell.
  3. Buy an Iron Money Generator (or higher tiers) to produce passive income.
  4. Invest in ammo, vehicles and base defenses; death costs part of your balance.

Economy & Shops

  • Economy enabled: virtual currency, server shops, auction house, and physical money item.
  • Starting balance: 1000
  • Death penalty: configured in config/migueleconomy-common.toml (currently set to 5%). If you want a harsher penalty (e.g., lose half on death), the setting deathPenaltyPercentage can be changed to 50.

Difficulty Progression

  • Day‑based progression (InControl spawn.json):
    • Day 1: almost all hostiles are denied (calm early game).
    • Days 2–3: only basic infected can spawn in darkness.
    • Day 4–7: evolved mobs begin appearing with light restrictions.
    • Day 8–14: most mobs available; light still limits spawns.
    • Day 15+: full difficulty, but light still offers protection.

Loot & Progression Notes

  • SuperbWarfare loot has been added to structure loot tables so guns and ammo can be found in abandoned structures and chests.
  • Starter kits provide class-based gear, ammo and medical items; thirst was removed and starter water bottles removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Horror Economy server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong neoforge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Horror Economy server really need?

Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €8/month).

Can I add custom mods to Horror Economy without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (neoforge) and same Minecraft version (1.21.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Horror Economy server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
