Levviata's Parasite Outbreak
Forge Lab's Parasite Outbreak but with my own twists and big improvements.
About this Modpack
PROJECT IS ABANDONED, SORRY!
Levviata's Parasite Outbreak
Originally based on ForgeLab's Parasite Outbreak, this modpack aims to be a "more fleshed-out" approach to ForgeLab's entry while generally keeping the original concept, "better" performance (subjective), and "less" bloat (also subjective)
(Having Issues/Crashes/Suggestions?)
Issues fixed or improved on:
I do believe ForgeLab's pack has a variety of issues that needed to be worked on, so I did just that, list of what I generally did to "fix" it (subjective)
- Balancing Issues := Usage of Reskillable mod to have a rough control of progression, tweaked recipes, and a variety of gameplay-focused changes to improve playability
- Performance := Added Radk6's performance mod list, support for Cleanroom launcher, and GREATLY improved world generation by the usage of Recurrent Complex to replace the mod gen of almost all of the included mods, expect far far better performance.
- Outdated Mods := Updated a variety of mods and fixed compatibility issues down the road.
- Lack of an Issue Tracker := Uses GitHub for issue tracking.
- Lack of QoL := Added a variety of custom recipes, zenscripts, and mods (along with some own-made mods) to improve playability.
- Old Look := While not an issue I have recommended below (refer to the 'Requirements' section) the best options for a more modern look if you are into that.
Note:
Starting in May 2023, this was a project I had in mind after I saw ForgeLab's "100 Days in a Parasite Outbreak" video, and yes, this pack has a complete quest system in mind.
Features
- Hbm's Nuclear Tech Mod
- Quests (Barely done)
- Mekanism: Community edition
- NO tinker's construct
- Skill locks on everything using Reskillable
- A few own-made mods for this mod pack exactly (and also some modified)
- New textures
- The Hordes (self-explanatory)
- Open Modular Turrets
- No nether :)
- Popular Recurrent Complex buildings/structures hotfix to have treasures in them
- QoL recipes and changes
(NOTE: This modpack is a big big w.i.p, major gameplay loops or objectives may be broken)
Requirements
You will need:
- More than 4 GB of RAM (ideal amount is 6 to 8 GBs);
- A GPU + CPU from the year 2010 or above (rough baseline);
- 4 GBs of RAM allocated in Minecraft.
- Forge or Cleanroom (1.12.2 focused Forge fork) mod launcher
What is Cleanroom?
Cleanroom is, in simple words, a new Forge fork that makes 1.12.2 work with Java 21 (ooo shiny new) instead of Java 8 (boo old java!) which in general is a big improvement in performance, security, and a lot more (AFAIK)
I recommend using Cleanroom with GraalVM Java 21 as its the best in raw performance and has the shortest load times.
OPTIFINE IS NOT SUPPORTED, THERE ARE MODS IN PLACE TO (somewhat) REPLACE ITS FUNCTIONALITY.
Converter is a good resource pack that I recommend if you are searching for a more modern look.
Nothirium is another recommended optimization mod that improves chunk generation, and should work well with this mod pack.
My specs for reference:
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB
Total Physical Memory 15.9 GB
GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650
RAM allocated in Minecraft is 4GB.
Bugs
Levviata's Ores' axes crash the game when right/left clicking some blocks
Trying to break a Lootr chest on creative seems to crash the game
Random crashes are somewhat expected, please report them to the issue tracker
Archive:
Fogger does not render properly in survival mode effectively making the mod useless, instead I opted for Fog Tweaker.
Spider 2.0 causes AI-less skeletons to appear randomly in the world, thanks for u/PhantomishHawk for pointing this out on this reddit post.
SHADERS DO NOT WORK; this is a known issue of Optifine with this modpack, no current or future fix planned. ALTERNATIVES: Resource packs.
OPTIFINE'S Fast Render AND Fast Math BREAK THE GAME, IF YOU ENABLED THEM YOU WILL HAVE TO EDIT THE CONFIGURATION BY HAND.

Frequently Asked Questions
Levviata's Parasite Outbreak server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Levviata's Parasite Outbreak server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Levviata's Parasite Outbreak without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.12.2). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Levviata's Parasite Outbreak server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
