Performance Note

Make is a large modpack, especially the Minecraft 1.20.1 version.

The 1.20.1 version can run on an Intel i3-9100F, but this CPU is close to the lower limit for the pack and may experience freezes or stutters, especially in large bases, factories, explored worlds, or servers with many machines and entities.

For a smoother experience, a CPU stronger than the i3-9100F is recommended.

A GTX 1650 is enough to run the pack, but players should lower render distance, simulation distance, particles, minimap settings, and extra visual effects if they experience lag.

The pack needs at least around 3.2 GB of free RAM available for Minecraft just to start, but this is not the recommended amount for stable gameplay.

Recommended RAM allocation:

  • Minimum to start: around 3.2 GB free for Minecraft
  • Recommended for 1.20.1: 4 GB to 6 GB allocated
  • Better experience: 8 GB+ system RAM, with enough RAM left for Windows and background apps

For PCs with only 8 GB of total system RAM, allocating around 4 GB to Minecraft is recommended. Allocating too much RAM may cause Windows to use the page file, which can create 1–5 second freezes.

Recommended Requirements

Make 1.16.5

The 1.16.5 version is generally lighter than the 1.20.1 version and should run on weaker PCs, but performance depends on world size, installed shaders/resource packs, render distance, and the number of machines, entities, and loaded chunks.

  • Minecraft: 1.16.5
  • Mod Loader: Forge
  • Recommended Java: Java 8
  • Recommended RAM allocation: 4 GB to 6 GB
  • GPU: A basic dedicated GPU is recommended
  • Notes: Lower render distance and particles are recommended for weaker PCs

Make 1.20.1

The 1.20.1 version is heavier and is recommended for stronger PCs.

  • Minecraft: 1.20.1
  • Mod Loader: Forge
  • Recommended Java: Java 17
  • Minimum free RAM to start: around 3.2 GB available for Minecraft
  • Recommended RAM allocation: 4 GB to 6 GB
  • Better system RAM: 8 GB to 16 GB
  • GPU: GTX 1650 or better recommended
  • CPU: Stronger than an Intel i3-9100F recommended

An Intel i3-9100F can run the 1.20.1 version, but it may stutter or freeze depending on the world, server, base size, machines, entities, and client settings.

How to Set Up a Make Server

1

Order Server

Choose at least 6 GB RAM (10 GB recommended for Make). Based on player count: per 4 players.

2

Install Modpack in Dashboard

Open the modpack browser in the dashboard, search for "Make" and click "Install". The forge loader and Minecraft 1.20.1 are configured automatically.

3

Start Server & Play

Start the server – all mods are loaded automatically. Share the server IP with friends and play together!

Frequently Asked Questions

Make server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 10 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Make server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 10 GB for stable performance. per 4 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Make without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Make server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 10 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
