About this Modpack

Minecraft: Original XBOX Edition

A modpack I made for fun that attempts to emulate what a potential port of Minecraft to the Original Xbox would look like.

This pack will be recieving updates every now and again, either small ones or big ones. The goal is to eventually turn this into a big pack after the course of many updates.

Semi-inspired by Minecraft: PSX Edition

Original Xbox Box-art

Features

  • A bunch of QOL features, like updating deaths to make things less annoying.
  • Game Over music, because I thought it was a cool concept.
  • An "attempted merging" of both the UI of Legacy Console Edition & Java Edition.
  • Forced resolution of 720x480, fixed framerate of 30, and low render distance due to the low RAM of the Original Xbox. Also Fast Graphics are on permanently.
  • Old textures and sounds via Golden Days
  • You can't see the world when in menus. If you're in singleplayer, the game will pause in most menus to account for this. If you're in multiplayer though... good luck.
  • Proper controller support (in fact, I recommend you use one. Doesn't have to be an original Xbox controller, though)
  • Hosting worlds via World Host (shown as Xbox Live in-game to better match the pack's aesthetics)
  • Cave reverb and other audio improvements because of the Xbox's audio hardware.
  • Boot up sequence (although be warned, it's kinda buggy and I don't know why, may be removed in the future)
  • Limited worlds
  • No directional logs
  • Lunar events
  • ...Maybe something else is out there?
  • Many legacy console features re-implemented, such as limited worlds, differing Nether generation and more
  • And more!

Planned Features

  • Updated Progression
  • Many adjustments to world gen, such as removing modern structures/and or replacing them.
  • Adjustments to features to make this version of the game stand out from base Java Edition
  • New things for you to find and do
  • Skin pack screen? (like Legacy Console)
  • More decorative blocks (like shelves and tables, I'm tired of having to put pistons in the floor for a de-facto table. won't be adding chairs though)

Frequently Asked Questions

Original Xbox Edition server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong neoforge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Original Xbox Edition server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Original Xbox Edition without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (neoforge) and same Minecraft version (1.21.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Original Xbox Edition server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
