About this Modpack

This modpack is now outdated, as it has been replaced by Pasta's Cobblemon Experience v2. I might patch a few issues if they are issues also present in its successor, but aside from that this version will not be supported anymore.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A modpack I've been working on and tweaking privately for over two years now, made public for the sake of easy sharing and updating.

This modpack is centered around the Cobblemon and Create mods. Everything else besides those two are mods that complement these two in various ways (exploration, combat and building primarily) or just add small features that I think are fun and works well alongside everything else.

The modpack also includes most common performance optimization mods (Sodium, etc) and Iris, as well as some extra mods for the Optifine-free Optifine experience for those who wish to use resource packs.

Note: I've heard some of the mods I've added might be considered "basic" by veteran modded players, as they are commonly used in other packs. But since I haven't been playing much modded MC since 2017, said mods don't feel overused to me, so I'm keeping them. This is a personal pack, after all.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

RAM needed: While the hardware I have at hand for testing the minimum specs are limited; based on my tests with my laptop from 2019 with mid-range specs for its time, you need at minimum 6GB of RAM to run this pack (won't launch at lower amounts), and recommended RAM would be around 8-10GB.

The modpack will load the included datapacks on its own when you create a new world (so if you want to remove one, the best time is during world creation), but CobblemonRider's up-to-date config for rideable Pokémon is a separate file you need to put into your world save's folder yourself after world creation. I've included it as a loose file in the base install folder of the modpack, so just copy it and overwrite the pre-generated one in your world's folder. You can also download it yourself from CobblemonRider's modpage here on Modrinth.

If you want to run this mod on a server, you can get the necessary server files from this page: https://modrinth.com/modpack/pastas-cobblemon-server-experience-v1

You don't need to download the server version of the modpack if you don't want to; the singleplayer version can be installed onto a server too, but some mods need to be deleted for the server to be able to launch. You'll also have extra mods on your server that are clientside only and only takes up more space and potentially makes the server boot up slower, but the option is there in case you prefer it.

MISC INFO

I've included a few mods that aren't active by default, mainly MiniHUD and Leawind's Third Person mod. MiniHUD is useful, but it's overlays ends up on top of Cobblemon's UI, so I left it off by default. Leawind's Third Person is fantastic, but causes the camera distance when using a Create train to become much further back than what it's supposed to be. If you want to use Leawind's, I'd recommend setting up a keybind to let you toggle the mod on and off at will.

I won't make a Github page for this version of the modpack since it's no longer worked on.

The modpack icon is heavily based on this comic made by LOL COMICS!.

SHADERPACKS INCLUDED

If you wish to use some other shaderpack, make sure to visit the Colorwheel and Colorwheel Patcher mod pages to make sure your shaderpack of choice is compatible with either of them, otherwise you'll experience big drops in performance when Create machinery is being rendered. If you don't use shaders, this doesn't apply.

WHY NOT MAKE THIS FOR NEOFORGE INSTEAD?

Some of you may ask yourself this, and the answer is: when I started working on this, most plugins and addons for Cobblemon seemed to mainly favor Fabric + Create Fabric was up-to-date and on the same version as the at-the-time current release of Cobblemon. By now there are a good amount of mods in the pack that just isn't available if I make the jump. I have been working on a v2 of this modpack in parallel with this one that runs with the latest Cobblemon release in MC 1.21.1, but that one won't see the day until Create Fabric gets updated for it. But if that ends up taking too long, I'll probably end up hoping over to NeoForge, even if it means losing out on mods I like and having to find potential substitutes. On the bright side, it means adding some mods that I couldn't in this one.

I reconsidered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pasta's Cobblemon Experience v1 server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Pasta's Cobblemon Experience v1 server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Pasta's Cobblemon Experience v1 without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Pasta's Cobblemon Experience v1 server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
