About this Modpack
About
Qilby industries is a Tech-focussed modpack with a hint of magic. It’s mostly centered around Gregtech, with a progression that will eventually be possible all the way to Max voltage.
Key mods of the pack
Those are the mods that you will spend the more time interacting with during main progression
- Gregtech CEu Modern is the main tech mod and the core focus of the pack. The packs also comes with a number of Gregtech Addons, including our own providing integration with the other mods of the pack
- Botania and Hex Casting are the main mods providing a magical flair to the pack, and will be instrumental for the progression.
Along with a plethora of other mods for a total of 175
Peformance
The pack can run with 6 GB of RAM if playing on a server or 8 GB in singleplayer, with a recomended 12 GB minimum
Notes
Here are several special behaviours that we haven't figured how to fix, or properly package the configuration for in the pack
OPAC Forceloading
Forceloading via Open Parties and Claims doesn't work reliably. Use the chunkloaders from Simple Chunkloaders instead
OPAC Claims on Botania
Botania mana bursts don't work inside OPAC claims by default. On servers that can be fixed by whitelisting the mana burst in the OPAC server config in the world’s folder. We haven’t found a way to ship that updated config with the pack. In single player you can simply not use OPAC features.
Config change
world/serverconfig/openpartiesandclaims-server.toml
[serverConfig.claims.protection]
forcedEntityProtectionExceptionList = [..., "interact$botania:mana_burst"]
entitiesAllowedToGrief = [..., "interact$botania:mana_burst"]

Frequently Asked Questions
Qilby Industries server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Qilby Industries server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Qilby Industries without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Qilby Industries server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
