About this Modpack

This modpack is an attempt by me to "refocus" many of the aspects of modern Minecraft into a more concise package, while trying to bring back many of the aspects that made beta minecraft so good. This pack takes inspiration primarily from Better than Adventure and reindev. Every few months I will try my best to update the pack with features I deem appropriate and migrate minecraft versions if possible.
A rundown of some of the many features and changes:
- A lonelier overworld! The only structures remaining in the overworld are mineshafts, ocean monuments, jungle temples, and very rarely buried treasure. To offset villagers and villager trading being gone, Piglins now accept gold, diamonds, emeralds, and coal for trade with expanded loot tables. See what they'll give you!
- End game Rework! Getting to the end now requires that you beat all the bosses in the game and then craft a special item from their spoils to light the ancient city portal and reach the end.
- Transportation rework! Elytras dont work with firework rockets but can use campfire smoke to boost, powered rails made from copper can be waxed to retain full (and now increased) minecart speed, minecarts can be linked together, and more! And dont worry, to offset that the elytra is now a glorified glider it is craftable from phantom membranes
- Declutter! Minecraft has a ton of features that I like that dont interact with the rest of the sandbox very well, and my goal was to get rid of any useless features that could reasonably be merged into something else (IE glowstone in place of glow ink) and make the remaining features more useful and involved. A significant change as part of this is that enchanting and potion brewing are drastically changed. Potions can only be brewed in cauldrons with more limited options, and enchantments are exclusively dungeon loot. That means no brewing stand, no enchanting table. Another example is phantoms have been reworked, they now spawn at y levels above 128 during the night instead of punishing you for playing the game.
- More blocks! There are now slab, stair, vertical slab/stair, pressure plates, and more variants for dozens and dozens of vanilla blocks. In addition there are now plenty of wood variants for blocks wherever possible.
- A new dimension! Traverse The Otherside from the Deeper and Darker mod and see if you have what it takes to withstand the horrors that lie waiting for you
- Many quality of life features, in a vanilla way. I love minimaps, zoom, and more so many of these qol features are implemented in ways mojang would conceivably do it, like crafting a map atlas being required for a minimap.
- World hosting! Host worlds seamlessly using the world host mod. Rejoice for the essential mod is no longer required

Frequently Asked Questions
Refocused server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Refocused server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Refocused without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.20.4). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Refocused server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
