About this Modpack

Introduction
Riptidium is an ongoing project I’ve been developing for quite some time. It delivers a solid and reliable experience while keeping the game fast and optimized, providing exceptionally high FPS. The pack includes several features that OptiFine included in the past. It also includes several quality-of-life improvements to enhance user-friendliness and immersion. I’ve also ensured it contains most of AntVenom’s must-have mods.
Installation
To install Riptidium, simply download it directly from Modrinth or use a third-party Minecraft launcher like ATLauncher to install the pack.
If you are using the Vulkan version, no extra setup is required.
If you face a lot of lag or stuttering on the Vulkan version, make sure to check which GPU is selected in the in-game video settings.
If you are using the Sodium version on Minecraft 1.21.1, no extra setup is required.
If you are using the Sodium version on a version newer than 1.21.1, one extra step is required. Since Nvidium has not been officially updated for newer versions, you must manually download this forked version and place it into the pack’s mods folder: https://github.com/drouarb/nvidium
Vulkan & Sodium
Riptidium comes in two versions: one built around Vulkan and the other built around Sodium. The table below explains the main differences between them.
Minecraft 1.21.1
| Feature | Vulkan Version | Sodium Version |
|---|---|---|
| FPS Performance | Highest FPS. Great for PvP and general gameplay. | Strong performance, with extra Sodium-based features. |
| Shader Support | ❌ Not supported. | ✅ Supported. |
| GPU Requirements | No special requirements. | NVIDIA GPU required for Nvidium (GTX 1600 series or newer). Nvidium will automatically disable itself if your GPU is unsupported. |
| Render Distance Optimization | Standard render performance. | Uses Nvidium for better render distance performance. |
| Version Support | Works well across versions. | Fully supported on 1.21.1. |
| Mod Compatibility | General mod support. | Best used with mods that properly support the Sodium-based setup. |
Minecraft Versions Newer Than 1.21.1
| Feature | Vulkan Version | Sodium Version |
|---|---|---|
| FPS Performance | Highest FPS. Great for PvP and general gameplay. | Strong performance, but requires an extra setup step on newer versions. |
| Can use Nvidium, but only with a manually installed fork. |
| Version Support | Works well across versions. | Requires extra setup on versions newer than 1.21.1. |
| Mod Compatibility | General mod support. | Compatibility may vary depending on the Minecraft version and Sodium/Nvidium support. |
[!IMPORTANT]
If you are using a version newer than 1.21.1, the Sodium version of the pack needs one extra step. Please follow the extra Nvidium setup listed in the Installation section above.
Updates
Both versions of Riptidium will be updated as needed. Riptidium, based on Sodium, may need updating more often as Nvidium support is a bit finicky due to the original project not being updated. The Vulkan-based version will continue to run the latest versions of Minecraft flawlessly.

How to Set Up a Riptidium Server
Order Server
Choose at least 6 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for Riptidium). Based on player count: per 5 players.
Install Modpack in Dashboard
Open the modpack browser in the dashboard, search for "Riptidium" and click "Install". The fabric loader and Minecraft 1.21.10 are configured automatically.
Start Server & Play
Start the server – all mods are loaded automatically. Share the server IP with friends and play together!
Frequently Asked Questions
Riptidium server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Riptidium server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Riptidium without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.21.10). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Riptidium server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
