About this Modpack

Enhance your Minecraft experience with a carefully curated collection of mods and resource packs.
This modpack is based on the set of mods I'd personally always install on every Minecraft world I'd play through. The goal of this pack is not to substantially change the way the game works, but enhance the gameplay that already exists.

The amount of mods installed might be more than double that of Fabulously Optimized, but it's competitive performance make it a standout choice for a more enhanced gameplay experience.

The pack is based on a core of performance mods that hugely increase the performance on every machine Because of that the pack does not only have great performance, but also has almost all features from OptiFine! This means that if your resource pack tells you it requires OptiFine it will work in this modpack 99.5% of the time.
⚠️ Important!
By default the modpack comes with the Voxy mod installed, as I believe it is the way that Minecraft is meant to be played. However not everyone's setup can handle it. Thus it's disabled by default. Make sure to go into Video Settings > Enable Voxy to enable it.

On top of that core of performance mods the modpack includes several quality-of-life improvement mods and visual enhancement mods that complement the vanilla Minecraft experience. These additions include better animations, improved sounds, little effects, handy hotkeys, and free capes!
This pack is designed to work everywhere. Whether it's your personal creative world, your friend's survival server, or a big minigame server. Although the mods should be fine on more than 90% of the servers always make sure the server allows them!

This modpack is made to be customised. Whether it's with a resource pack, shaders or adding/replacing mods completely. Make it yours!
Included are some packs in spirit of the better vanilla idea, however none of them are total overhauls. The pack otherwise features no shaders for now, though I am open to include one in the future.
Lastly the pack has some included configurations for mods that are not included in the pack. The reason for this is because I deemed some of them to be too heavily outside of the vanilla spirit, but recognise many players (including me) often do use those mods. So I made configurations for them to completely fit the pack in case you do install them yourself.
💡 Hint!
If you want to use your favourite resource pack with this modpack, make sure to add as second to the list if you want to keep the bushy leaves!

Frequently Asked Questions
RME's Better Vanilla server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a RME's Better Vanilla server really need?
Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 8 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €8/month).
Can I add custom mods to RME's Better Vanilla without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.21.11). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
RME's Better Vanilla server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
