About this Modpack
The Simply Medieval Modpack
Modpack Design
The design of the modpack is to introduce a Vanilla+ experience directed towards Medieval RP with a 'pinch of Fantasy' to introduce QOL but still immersive Waystones. I call it, Simply Medieval.
When looking for a Medieval Modpack on Modrinth I am faced with either Modpacks that turn the game into a complete technical mess, or a complete Fantasy RPG simulator. I don't want either of those extremes. This modpack instead was focused around getting core medieval elements- such as weapons and armor, into the game with as little added bloat as possible. In addition to adding an extra - but simple - layer of depth to the combat system.
Modpack Features
Combat -
Adds simple features like putting swords/items on your back, Two-handed combat [which integrates with the vanilla slots] and new 3d armor sets. The new armor sets are sweet and discoverable in vanilla-generated loot chests. They are marginally better than Iron/Diamond. Which makes armor sets worth searching for but also not blatantly OP or neccessary to progress. However the 3d Models are SWEET seriously go check out that guys work. Also there are no added shields or enchantments. Additional mechanics found from the "MedievalWeapons" mod include Bleed and Stun Debuffs from specific weapons, and certain weapons providing better or shorter reaches. Two handed weapons adding block mechanics, and dual-wielding provides a cool look and a faster attack speed.

Resources / Blocks -
Dehyrdration Mod adds essentially a simple hydration system ontop of minecrafts food system. It's very easy to understand once you play with it, and it adds a bit of medieval flair. Block-wise it adds a Bamboo Pump, and Campfire Cauldron (Placed ontop of a Campfire Block) used to purify water. In addition some blocks are added through the Waystone Mod, which are primarily just the literal Waystones.

Fantasy Elements -
The only fantasy element included is the Waystones, which I always felt is a tasteful and useful system to help facilitate exploration and travel in the game. It's also the only included change to world generation (Villages) and additional craftable items (Besides weapons). Some of the neat features of this mod include EXP cost to waystones in survival, craftable teleport scrolls linked to waystones, and late game Warp-plates.

Simply Medieval Modpack server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Simply Medieval Modpack without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Simply Medieval Modpack server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time.
