About this Modpack

What is Spection?

Spection is a pack designed with a focus on exploration, adventure, and survival. Though these focuses do not come without thought and consideration for the base game, as many quality of life improvements and adjustments have been made to the base game to create an overall smoother experience and blend with modded content. While there are new additions to redstone, the pack is not focused on tech or magic, so those of you looking for something like Create will not find that here.

Exploration and Adventure

Exploration in this pack of course comes from the suite of new biomes and structures but it is also blended with new progression. Deeper Caves adds Rose Gold, a set of gear that falls between Iron and Diamond, adding length to the midgame. There are also a host of new types of equipment from Relics, Quivers, AstikorCarts Redux, Artifacts, and more that further encourage exploratin and gathering of resources. Exploration will take a bit more thought, as Thirst Was Taken and Cold Sweat add both Thirst and Temperature respectively, creating new and engaging hazards and obstacles that players will need to think about when traversing the new environments and structures. Fear not though, as both mods do a fantastic job with integrating with other modded content, creating a seamless experience.

Survival

While Thirst Was Taken and Cold Sweat will be the most immedietely obvious survival mechanics, there are several others that will add new depth to your day to day gameplay. The two that can be the most impactful are Second Chance and Wall-Jump TXF. Second Chance will allow you some more grace from being one shot if you have over 7 hearts, now being able to survive with just half a heart to try and make a quick recovery, while also giving you a split second to jump in the hair if you fall off a ledge. Wall Jump allows you to jump up walls up to five times (configurable) to mitigate the habit of creating towers of dirt just to get up a couple blocks. In addition to these mods is Cardiac, a small mod that greatly helps the general balance of the pack. This small mod causes defeated mobs to drop life orbs that you can collect to regain some help. This combined with Second Chance makes combat more forgiving, especially since there are some powerful mob additions to the world.

Mobs and Bosses

There are a suite of new mobs and bosses that will create new incentives and goals to try and accomplish. Many of the mobs also integrate wonderfully with the biome mods used here Oh The Biomes We've Gone for the surface/nether, and Regions Unexplored for the caves/nether. Alex's Mobs has been added to the pack to help add life and diversity to the world, along with unique challenges. This has been paired with Bosses'Rise, Creeper Overhaul, Endermen Overhaul, Friends&Foes, LEnder's Cataclysm, More Critters, Opposing Force, Ribbits, Rotten Creatures, Sons of Sins, and Variants&Ventures. All of which creating an extremely dynamic pool of mobs and encounters.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is an extremely important part of gaming, bringing people together and this pack aims to add experiences and interactions unique to the multiplayer experience. Mods like Chat Heads and Longer Chat History bring fantastic quality of life to chatting. Simple Voice Chat adds a simple proximity voice chat to add an extra level immersion for players looking for it. Essential has also been included to allow for an easier co op experience. Ping Wheel has been added to allow players to mark locations or entities, even across vast distances.

Miscellaneous Mechanics

Combat has been overhaul with the popular Better Combat mod, but it has also seen the addition of Warrior Rage, a mod that adds kill streaks to the game, granting damage bonuses for quick, consecutive mob kills. The Nether sees additional biome diversity through Amplified Nether and Gardens of the Dead. The End sees the same with BetterEnd, The Endergetic Expansion, YUNG's Better End Island, and an overhauled Ender Dragon fight. Carry On along with Carry On Extend has been added to not only allow you to pick up entities but to throw them as well.

There is much more that has not been mentioned here but it all contributes to the main goal of creating a more dynamic exploration and survival experience that can be enjoyed with friends or solo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spection server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a Spection server really need?

Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).

Can I add custom mods to Spection without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

Spection server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
