About this Modpack

This is a modpack published for mainly for members of my server to use, but I believe it can offer value to others as well.
Main features:
- Sodium for better performance
- Voxy & VoxyServer, to allow seeing very far away with minimal performance impact (66 chunks by default, you can increase this)
- Simple Voice Chat for multiplayer fun! Also allows you to hear custom music disks, heads, goat horns on the server.
How to use the features:
- Sodium: Works in the background. You will notice the video settings menu looks different, this is caused by sodium.
- Voxy: In the video settings menu, click on the "Rendering" tab under "Voxy". There, you can change thre voxy render distance. At the very top of the video settings menu, it will look like your render distance is very low (around 8 chunks). This is the vanilla render distance, you likely do not need to touch it. Increasing the Voxy render distance has a much smaller performance impact than increasing the vanilla distance.
- Simple Voice Chat: The first time you load into a world, it will likely prompt you to set it up. Otherwise, you can press the V key on your keyboard to configure. I recommend setting the mic mode to "voice activation" rather than push to talk, so you do not need to hold a button down to speak. You can mute your mic at any time with the M key. Volumes of custom sounds can be adjusted from the voice chat menu as well.
For fellow server owners, you are free to distribute this mod to your members as well. For full functionality, Simple Voice Chat & VoxyServer must be installed server-side.

With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Survival w/ Friends Modpack server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Survival w/ Friends Modpack without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (26.1.2). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Survival w/ Friends Modpack server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
