About this Modpack

The Refrigerator Pack

...is a collection of Forge mods that gravitate around the Create, Tetra and Ars Nouveau mods. There are some QoL and performance improvement additions, and shaderpack support available as well.

This pack aims to provide a sort of pseudo-vanilla experience, with major progression and exploration additions. My goal was to create a pack that avoids most "traditional" technology mods. (Mekanism, Applied Energistics, Immersive Engineering, etc.)

Installation

Modrinth App

  • You can either:

a.) Download and play the modpack directly in the official Modrinth App

b.) Download the .mrpack file and create a new instance "from file" in the Modrinth App

Third-party

  • To install and play the modpack with the .mrpack file, follow the instructions here.

Server Side

  • To install the server-side mods, there is a release known as (pack name) x.x_server; directions to install (into a standard port-forwarded Forge 1.20.1 server) are listed below:
  1. Follow option "a.)" above to install the modpack and click on the icon (not the ▷ button).
  2. Select 📁 Folder to browse its files.
  3. Go into the "mods" folder.
  4. Select all (ctrl + a), then press ctrl + c to copy.
  5. Go into your server's "mods" folder.
  6. Right click (or ctrl + v) to paste.
  • Your server should now be able to run properly and can be joined using the normal (x.x _server) version of the modpack.
  • To install into any third-party hosted server, or any potential other type of server supporting Forge 1.20.1, follow steps 1-3, then add the mods by name, manually.
    • let me know if there is any other method because this one seems painstaking and, frankly, it sucks.

Resource Packs

  • If you want a decently vanilla-themed resource pack, I recommend VanillaTweaks.

  • For PBR stuff, I personally have had mixed results with DefaultPBR.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Refrigerator Pack server crashes or won't start – what to do?

Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.

How much RAM does a The Refrigerator Pack server really need?

Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €8/month).

Can I add custom mods to The Refrigerator Pack without conflicts?

Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.20.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.

The Refrigerator Pack server lagging – performance tips

1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
