About this Modpack

About
This modpack strives to be different. It does not feature dozens of dwellers, ultrarealistic shaders, or over 100 mods. The goal of this modpack is to create a real horror experience. For the first 1-2 nights, everything will be silent. After that, you might encounter some small dangers. However, if you avoid making too much noise, you may survive a few additional nights.
Mods were picked extremely carefully and work perfectly together, creating a unique horror experience.
Main mod
This modpack is built around "The silence" mod but still has a few additional surprises.
The silence is very unique, it does not add a generic dweller or entity, everything starts with psychological attacks and only in the end it may damage you physically.
I will not say anything more than this so you can experience it all by yourself.
why this modpack?
Here is a short list of all the key features:
- Immersion: The modpack preserves the vanilla atmosphere but adds an additional layer of immersion. The most significant part of this is the PSX shaders by ckosmic.
- Balance: You will not encounter overpowered Bigfoots that appear every 5 seconds and one-shot you. Everything will be balanced and avoidable (mostly).
- Consistency: As was said before, i carefully pick every mod so that everything works perfectly together.
- Stability: I tested everything before uploading it, which is rare in nowadays.
- Multiplayer: Everything is compatible with multiplayer, thanks to e4mc you do not need to port forward to play with friends; just join the world and click the LAN button. If it is not working, then e4mc servers are dead lol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Things from the cave server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong forge loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Things from the cave server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Things from the cave without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (forge) and same Minecraft version (1.19.2). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Things from the cave server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
