About this Modpack
The aim of this modpack is to provide the best possible vanilla survival experience for PC and Mac as well. Enjoy a beautiful, fully optimized Minecraft without spending months to set it up.
Key fetures:
- Opens and saves your existing Mineraft worlds from the original Minecraft folder
- It is compatible with your existing worlds
- Original vanilla experience with several quality of life improvements
- Runs well on both low- and high-end machines
- Beatiful graphics with 3 optimized presets
Bundled presets:
- Reimagined for beautiful but classic Minecraft look and feel
- Unbound for a more artistic version
- Mellow for highest shader performance
You can switch off the shaders by pressing F12 at any time, still looks much better than the vanilla game.
Everything is fully configured
Only minimal setup is required:
- Please allocate at least 6GB of memory. (In Modrinth app click the bottom-left gear icon ⚙️ and go to Default instance options.) On high-end systems 16GB is recommended.
- Copy the following parameters into Java arguments field just below the memory alloacation:
-XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem - After launching the game, set the render distance (Options/Video Settings)
- Set the GUI Scale (Options/Video Settings)
- Set your mouse sensitivity (Options/Controls/Mouse Settings)
- Choose your graphics preset in two steps:
- In Options/Resource Packs
- In Options/Video Settings, click Shader Packs button
You can easily access exising worlds by pressing the folder with a "1" on it next to the Single Player button.
Important instructions when creating a new world:
- You can create a new world by pressing the Single Player button, in this case it will be visible only by this modpack. I recommend opening the original Minecraft folder with the "1" button and create a new world there.
- You can create a new world without any additional datapacks. However, I highly recommend using the Vanilla's Finest's selection, by clicking on the More tab and than Data Packs button during world creation. These packs will be automatically copied into the world save folder, so if you open the world in native Minecraft using the Microsoft Launcher, they will be still there and fully functional!
I have prepared 3 datapack selections:
- Vanilla Default only contains the essential Data Packs. Minecraft will not cut off the peaks of the mountains, upgrades the trees and nature a little bit to be more in line with what you have seen in the trailers.
- Vanilla Updated improves villages, mansions, strongholds and other structures without changing their location, so you can still find them on the same spot as in the map viewer: https://www.chunkbase.com/apps/seed-map
- Vanilla Extra adds new structures that are not in the original game, like ruined castles in icy areas: https://modrinth.com/datapack/grim-kingdoms-lost-structures-ruins/gallery and https://modrinth.com/datapack/epic-structures-dungeons
I will publish more information about the included datapacks on my discord channel soon. While I do not recommend removing them from an existing world, they can be remowed without compromising the world itself, some loot chests may become empty.
Thank you to Vanilla Tweaks for allowing the usage of their Resource Pack in Vanilla's Finest!

Frequently Asked Questions
Vanilla's Finest server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 8 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Vanilla's Finest server really need?
Minimum 6 GB, recommended 8 GB for stable performance. per 5 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €12/month).
Can I add custom mods to Vanilla's Finest without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (26.1.2). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Vanilla's Finest server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 8 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
