Argus
(almost) Full OptiFine resource pack compatibility for Sodium. CTM, custom sky, animations, CIT, custom GUI, custom colors and more - one mod, nothing else needed.
About this Mod
Argus
Argus is a Sodium-native Fabric client mod for OptiFine resource-pack compatibility on the modern Minecraft renderer path.
No bridge mod, no wrapper layer, no old renderer detour: Argus implements supported OptiFine-style resource-pack features directly where they render.
Argus is currently in stable beta. The core systems work in-game, most supported OptiFine pack features should work with existing packs, and compatibility bugs are being fixed against real-world packs as they show up.

Compatibility Warning
Argus includes the OptiFine Extra Options scope directly.
This means Argus overlaps with Sodium Extra and other mods that provide the same visual options or renderer-facing features. These mods should not be installed together unless a specific compatibility note says otherwise.
Known overlapping areas include:
- Sodium Extra-style visual options
- OptiFine Extra Options replacements
- mods that change the same renderer-facing feature controls
- mods that implement the same resource-pack compatibility features
ETF and EMF are supported exceptions:
- When ETF is installed, Argus disables its overlapping entity texture features and greys out the related settings.
- EMF remains the intended mod for entity models and entity animations, which Argus does not implement.
Entity Textures, ETF, and EMF
Entity texture features are included for the OptiFine scope.
Entity model and entity animation packs are not included. Use EMF/ETF for that stack.
When ETF is installed, Argus disables its overlapping entity texture features and greys out the related settings.
Not Included
Argus does not implement:
- Entity model replacement
- Entity animation packs, including Fresh Animations-style CEM
- Dynamic Lighting
Use a dedicated Dynamic Lighting mod alongside Argus.
Resource Pack Compatibility
Argus targets real OptiFine resource packs.
CTM, Better Grass, Emissive Textures, Custom Colors, Custom Sky, Custom Animations, Custom GUI, CIT, Entity Textures, and OptiFine Extra Options support have all reached visible in-game paths, but parity is still being tightened feature by feature.
Some packs may still expose edge cases. Please report compatibility issues with the affected resource pack name, Minecraft version, Argus version, Sodium version, and a short description of what renders incorrectly.

Argus server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Argus compatible with fabric and neoforge?
Argus officially supports fabric, neoforge for Minecraft 26.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Argus – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Argus consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
