AutoTools
This mod adds an item which automatically switches to the correct tool when mining a block.
About this Mod
This mod is a work-in-progress project of mine. I may never work on it again. Depends if I'm feeling up to it. (the main functionality is finished)
AutoTools
This is a mod generally made for OneBlock (and since 1.16.4 is the latest version, you can put two-and-two together.)
My friends have been playing it on Controllable (which is a forge mod) so I made this mod for them to make their playthrough easier.
The main item introduced is called the Tool Ring. If you hold it in your offhand, and you have the correct tools in your hotbar, the correct tool will be selected automatically once you start mining a block.
Known bugs:
- If you have multiple tools of the same type in your hotbar, it will just switch over and over again inbetween them. (look at issue tracker)
- IF YOU WANT TO RUN THIS MOD, ON FORGE 1.16.4, BEWARE THAT FORGE VERSIONS BELOW 1.17 (iirc) CRASH ON THE LATEST JAVA 8 RELEASE. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH MY MOD. (download an older release here.)

AutoTools server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.16.4). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is AutoTools compatible with forge?
AutoTools officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.16.4. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with AutoTools – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if AutoTools consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
