Better Entity Culling (BEC)
BEC (Better Entity Culling) is a lightweight client-side mod for Fabric that improves Minecraft performance by skipping the rendering of mobs, items, projectiles, and other entities that are outside your field of view.
About this Mod
A super lightweight, fully automatic client-side performance mod for Minecraft 1.21.1
Warning: This mod is in Beta so it might not work as intended
BEC dramatically improves FPS and reduces visual clutter by only rendering entities that are actually in front of you — no config files, no commands needed, just pure smart culling.
What It Does
Minecraft renders thousands of entities even when they're:
- Behind your back
- Way off to the sides
- Hidden behind terrain or walls (in view frustum)
BEC fixes that. It intelligently skips rendering:
- Mobs
- Dropped items
- Arrows, tridents, fireballs, snowballs, eggs, potions
- Boats & minecarts
- Armor stands
- Falling blocks (sand, anvils)
- Primed TNT
...if they're outside your actual field of view cone — using a smooth, adaptive 3D angle check based on your current in-game FOV (works with zoom, bow draw, potions, etc.).
Why You'll Love It
- 100% automatic — just install and forget
- Instantly smoother gameplay in mob farms, superflat worlds, item sorters, raids, and laggy servers
- Reduces GPU load and eliminates "invisible entity lag"
- No more rendering 5000 items behind your back
- Works perfectly in first-person, third-person, and cinematic camera
Features
- True 3D FOV-based culling (yaw + pitch aware)
- Adapts to your current FOV in real-time
- Smooth 15° buffer zone (feels natural, no popping)
- Ultra optimized — near-zero performance cost
- Client-side only → safe on all servers (Vanilla, Spigot, Fabric, Forge via Sinytra, etc.)
Commands (Optional)
/bec info– See current status and active FOV/bec toggle– Temporarily disable/enable culling/bec reset– Restore defaults
