BetterPeek
Peek inside chests, barrels, and shulker boxes without opening them. Client-only.
About this Mod
See what's inside, without opening anything.
BetterPeek adds a tiny preview window that shows the contents of any chest, barrel, hopper, dropper, dispenser or shulker box. Aim at it, glance at the preview, move on. No more cracking open ten chests to find that one diamond.
What you get
World containers. Once you've opened a container, BetterPeek remembers what's inside. The next time you look at it, you see the contents floating in the corner of your screen.
Shulker boxes in your inventory. Hover a shulker box item in any GUI (your inventory, a chest, the creative menu) and the preview appears next to your cursor. Works on every server, every time — shulker contents travel with the item.
One key to toggle. Press V to turn the preview on or off. Configurable in Options → Controls → BetterPeek.
Zero server install. Fully client-side. Works on vanilla, Spigot, Paper, Fabric, Realms, anything.
Light on resources. Detectors are reused frame-to-frame, no garbage in the render path.

BetterPeek server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is BetterPeek compatible with fabric?
BetterPeek officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with BetterPeek – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if BetterPeek consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
