Overview
Black Lung is a mod which increases the difficulty of mining coal, venturing into the end and as of Version 1.5, exploring the sculky depths.
This mod adds:
1 New Item
2 New Blocks
4 New Effects
3 New Potions
Items
Gas Mask
Stops the Player from getting The Black Lung effect when mining Coal
It DOES NOT remove The Black Lung effect if the Player already has the effect
Greatly reduces the Player's vision
Blocks
Coal Dust
Slows the Player's movement when walked on
Is coughed up when the Player has The Black Lung effect
Ender Dust
Slows the Player's movement when walked on
Is coughed up when the Player has The Ender Lung effect
Effects
Strong Lungs
Effect is only obtainable via potion
Removes the effects of The Black Lung, The Ender Lung and The Sculk Lung instantly
The Black Lung
Caused by mining coal with no breathing protection
Continuously damages the Player until the effect is removed
Makes the Player cough up Coal Dust
The Ender Lung
Caused by getting attacked by a mob from The End with no breathing protection
Continuously damages the Player until the effect is removed
Makes the Player cough up Ender Dust
The Sculk Lung
Caused by picking up or walking on Sculk related items and blocks with no breathing protection
Continuously damages the Player until the effect is removed
The coughing may call something unwanted

Made with brewing a Pufferfish with a Thick Potion
Comes with Splash, Lingering and Arrow Variants

How to Install Black Lung on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.19.4).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Black Lung". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Black Lung server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.19.4). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Black Lung compatible with forge?
Black Lung officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.19.4, 1.19.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Black Lung – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Black Lung consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
