About this Mod
Blockspan
Blockspan is a client-side Fabric/Forge mod for builders who want quick measurements while planning builds. Select two block positions and Blockspan shows a subtle in-world box with labels, dimensions, volume, distance, center point, and coordinates.
It is safe for survival worlds/multiplayer because it does not add blocks, items, entities, recipes, world generation, or server-required features. Saved areas are stored only in your local client config.
How to use
Look at a block and press R to set Point A. Look at another block and press R again to set Point B. The selected area will appear in the world with its length, width, height, and volume.
Press V to open the Blockspan menu, where you can rename the current area, choose a color, save it, hide/show saved areas, or delete saved areas.

Measurements

The overlay can show:
- Point A and Point B coordinates
- Length, width, and height
- X/Y/Z delta
- Straight-line distance
- Center point
- Total cuboid volume

Blockspan server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Blockspan compatible with fabric and forge?
Blockspan officially supports fabric, forge for Minecraft 26.1.2. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Blockspan – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Blockspan consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
