About this Mod
BuildCraft Refabricated
The classic BuildCraft automation experience, rebuilt for Fabric on Minecraft.

BuildCraft Refabricated is an unofficial Fabric port of BuildCraft, one of the mods that defined Minecraft automation. Mine with quarries, pump and refine oil, power everything with engines, move resources through smart pipes, and automate it all with programmable gates. The full BuildCraft toolkit, faithful to the 8.0.x era, rebuilt for modern Fabric.
If you ever piped items across your base, watched a quarry chew through stone, or wired up gates to run a factory on its own, this is that experience. And now it plugs straight into the rest of your Fabric modpack.
Gameplay by module
Mining: automate the dig
Mining in BuildCraft is hands off. Mark out an area with Landmarks, give it power, and let the machines do the rest:
- Quarry strip mines an entire marked region down to bedrock, piping every block of loot straight into your storage. Set it, power it, walk away.
- Mining Well drills a clean shaft straight down, perfect for targeted vertical mining.
- Pump drains lakes, lava pools, and oil deposits into your fluid network.
No more carpal tunnel mining trips. Your world digs itself.
Oil & Fuel: a full energy economy
- Oil pools and oil springs generate across the world, waiting to be tapped.
- Pump crude oil up and run it through the Distiller / Refinery to split it into a three tier fuel chain. Each tier burns hotter and longer.
- Feed refined fuel into Combustion Engines for serious industrial output.
- Extract → refine → burn → automate: a complete, satisfying production loop.
Engines & Power: the MJ grid
BuildCraft runs on its own iconic energy unit, Minecraft Joules (MJ):
- Redstone Engine: a cheap early game kickstart for pumping and light work.
- Stone & Iron Engines: mid tier power that scales with fuel quality, but overheats if you neglect cooling.
- Combustion Engine: high output power for your biggest machines.
- Creative & FE Engines: for testing and cross tech setups.
- Heat management matters, just like the original. Balancing power is part of the fun.
Pipes & Logistics: the heart of the mod
Build sprawling logistics networks that sort, route, and deliver resources with zero hoppers:
- Wooden pipes extract from inventories; Cobblestone/Stone carry items along.
- Iron pipes force a single direction; Diamond pipes sort by item type into different outputs.
- Emerald pipes smart extract with filters; Lapis / Daizuli pipes route by colour.
- Fluid pipes carry oil, fuel, water, and lava; kinesis (power) pipes deliver MJ to distant machines.
- Add pluggables, gates, and lenses to fine tune exactly how items and signals flow.
Build a base where ore mines itself, smelts itself, sorts itself, and restocks your chests, all through pipes.
Gates, Wires & Triggers: program your factory
This is where BuildCraft becomes a living factory:
- Gates read the world: "is this tank full?", "is this engine too hot?", "is this chest empty?" They fire actions in response.
- Redstone wires link gates together into reactive, self regulating systems.
- Turn machines on and off exactly when needed. No command blocks, no scripting, just satisfying in world logic.
Builders: construction at scale
- Architect Table scans any structure into a reusable blueprint.
- Builder reconstructs blueprints anywhere you supply the materials.
- Filler clears, flattens, or fills entire regions on command.
Save your favourite builds and stamp them across your world.
Silicon: advanced crafting
- Laser powered Assembly Table and Integration Table craft gates, chipsets, and advanced components.
- Facades and lenses add cosmetic and functional control to your pipe networks.
Quality of life tools
- Paintbrush: colour code pipes and blocks for tidy, readable factories.
- Landmarks & Volume Boxes: define working areas for quarries, fillers, and builders.
- List tool: configure filters quickly across your network.
Plays well with your other mods
BuildCraft Refabricated is built to be a team player, not an isolated tech island:
- Native Fabric Transfer API support: pipes and machines move items and fluids in and out of any mod that uses the standard Fabric storage APIs. Drop a BC pipe onto another mod's tank, barrel, or machine and it just connects.
- Cross mod energy: built in Team Reborn Energy (E) integration bridges BuildCraft to the wider tech ecosystem, with enabled by default MJ ↔ E conversion.
- Modded fluids interoperate: any mod's fluids flow through BC pipes, tanks, pumps, and the distiller using standard fluid units.
- JEI integration: every BuildCraft recipe shows up in JEI alongside the rest of your pack.
Whether your pack leans on storage drawers, modded tanks, FE generators, or other logistics systems, BuildCraft slots in as the connective tissue between them.

Port status
This is a beta port (26.1.2-beta-2), and a few things differ from older BuildCraft:
- Fluid auto workbench is still WIP.
- In-game guide book is incomplete.
- MJ ↔ RF conversion is on by default (
MJ_AUTOCONVERT_RF); switch toMJ_ONLYin config if you want pure MJ. - Team Reborn Energy API is bundled in the JAR — no separate Energy mod required.
Pipes, engines, oil, quarry, builders, silicon, gates, and robots are fully playable.
