About this Mod
A server-side mod for restricting the chat to people you've met.
When two players get close enough to each other (less than 16 blocks by default), they discover each others' contacts and can see chat messages from each other.
Commands
/contacts- Lists the players that can see your chat messages. Usable by anyone/contacts <playername>- Shows the contacts of another player. Needs op (permission level 2)/contacts add <player1> <player2>- Gives two players each others' contact information. Note that this does not send a message to those players. Needs OP (permission level 2)/contacts remove <player1> <player2>- Removes two players' contact information from each other. Needs OP (permission level 4)/killdante- Kills Dante (does nothing except send an ominous message to the person who used it)
Config
Config is at comms_array_uplink.json. Messages sent to players can also be configured at config/messages/comms_array.json.
discovery_range- The range that players discover contact information from. This is a box, not a sphere.
Compatibility
This mod uses Placeholder API and Message API.
This mod is compatible with Factions, but will likely break some parts of other mods that change the look of chat, such as Styled Chat.

How to Install Comms Array Uplink on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.8).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Comms Array Uplink". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Comms Array Uplink server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.8). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Comms Array Uplink compatible with fabric?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Comms Array Uplink consumes the most tick time.
