About this Mod
⚔️ Shield Status is a client-side mod that adds a visual cooldown indicator to your shield, making it easy to track when your shield will be ready again. Whether you're in intense PvP combat or just exploring, you'll always know your shield's status at a glance.
✨ Features
🎨 The mod dynamically changes your shield's color based on its remaining cooldown time. When your shield is fully charged and ready, it displays in green. As the cooldown begins after impact, the color smoothly transitions through orange, yellow, and back toward green as it recharges. This color progression gives you instant visual feedback without needing to check any UI elements or count ticks.
🔄 The color system works as follows: when you first hit cooldown, your shield turns red. As time passes, it gradually shifts to orange around 4 seconds remaining, then to yellow at 2-3 seconds, and finally to a light green as it approaches full charge. The transitions are smooth and gradual, not sudden jumps, so you can always see exactly how much time is left.
⚙️ How It Works
🛡️ The mod hooks into Minecraft's shield mechanics and tracks cooldown status for both you and other players. When anyone's shield takes damage or blocks an axe strike, the mod immediately starts tracking the cooldown. The visual indicator updates in real-time as the shield recharges, giving you perfect timing for when to use it again in combat.
🌐 For single-player and multiplayer servers, the mod detects shield hits through both direct damage detection and network packets. This means it works seamlessly whether you're playing solo or on a server with other players. You'll see your own shield color change when you block, and you'll also see other players' shields changing color so you know when they're vulnerable or protected.
📋 Requirements
✅ This mod requires Duchessentials to be installed. It's a client-side only mod, so you only need to install it on your client - servers don't need anything special. Works with Minecraft 1.21.8 and Fabric.
⚡ The mod is lightweight and has minimal performance impact, using only a small amount of memory to track cooldowns for players in your view distance.
🎯 Perfect For
🏆 PvP combat where shield timing is critical. ⚔️ Competitive gameplay where knowing your defensive cooldowns matters. 🎮 Any playstyle where you want more visual feedback from your equipment. 👁️ Players who want a cleaner, more intuitive way to track shield status without cluttering their HUD.
