Cruelty-Free Fixes

This is Vanilla+ mod that tweaks the game in a few ways, with some focus on reducing necessity for animal cruelty. I'm brand new to modding, so let me know what bugs you find and if you have any suggestions!

This mods additions include:

Flesh to Leather

The classic tweak, this addition allows you to dry Rotten Flesh on a Campfire, mix the new Dried Flesh with Milk in a Crafting Grid, then smoke the new Softened Leather in a Smoker to create Leather.

You can also place Softened Leather into a Crafting Grid to get Softened Cut Leather, which when smoked in a Smoker becomes Rabbit Hide.

I attempted to keep this balanced with the process of gathering Leather in the base game, but if you believe it's too easy or too hard let me know!

Hoe Harvest (or Skordefest)

This adds a right-click harvest function to your Hoe! Works like other mods that allow right-click harvesting, but gives more functionality to the Hoe which I believe it needs.

A Slice for Later

Want to give a slice of cake to each of your friends, but they're at very different coordinates and there's no way you could make a cake for each of them? Or maybe you just want a slice for later?

Simply right-click a Cake with a bowl in your main hand to get the new Cake Bowl! Now you can sneak yourself a Cake slice without placing the whole block down for everyone to see and STEAL YOUR SLICES!

For the Goodest Boys

Want to just give your dog a treat? Treat them with the Dog Biscuit! For when they do what they're told, or when they just look too cute. What about in the midst of combat? You can eat a Golden Apple to assist you in your encounters, but what of your canine companion? You'll give them a Golden Dog Biscuit of course!!! Empower your furever friend just as you empower yourself! Fight off the hordes together!

Glow Sticks

It's already so sad seeing Glow Squids suffocating underground, but to take their remains and squirt it on a sign to make the letters glow? That's pretty gross, especially for someone who loves animals. Now you don't need to go to such gruesome lengths to achieve PRETTIER signage. Simply craft yourself a Glow Stick! Mind you, it'll require a trip to the Nether itself but it's worth it to avoid those gorey techniques.

Fishless Fishing [WIP]

Once completed this would allow you to fish as per usual, but when you would normally catch a fish you simply catch nothing. This allows you to fish with your friends without harming any fish and everyone keeps a balance level of fishing gameplay! (Sorry for anyone waiting on this feature, it's showing to be more stubborn than I hoped. Still working on it though.)

Among this additions are also some simple recipe changes:

Coal/Charcoal + Water can get you Black Dye! No need wait for a squid to suffocate or summon the Wither!

New Egg-free recipes for Cakes and Pumpkin Pies! Did you know apples can be a good substitute for eggs in baking?

Potion making is mystical and magical, but sometimes a little gorey! Sick of boiling down Pufferfish or Rabbit's Foot for your potions? Try using a Nautilus Shell or Slimeballs to achieve the same effects!

Lastly, raising a flock of innocent Chickens just to murder them in cold blood for Arrows is the definition of animal cruelty. But lucky for you, you just discovered the techniques behind Paper Fletching! Now you can use Paper in place of Feathers for making your Arrows!
