📄Gist:
Curiosities is a general enhancement mod focused on adding new metals, tools, building materials, equipment, quality of life, consistency, and really whatever we think fits. Adds all matter of things such as materials like that of Aluminum, Nickel, and Invar, along with additional building blocks like Fancied Planks and Ashlar!
This mod currently is divided into two parts: vanilla enhancement, and new content. "Vanilla enhancement" as in small QoL and extra fill-in-the-gaps content that strictly enhances the vanilla experience. "New content" as in specialized content from the mod that amplifies the Minecraft experience with fresh and new toys to play with.

📖Breakdown:
For the vanilla enhancement side, there are new building blocks like that of the Fancied Planks and Ashlar (bricks) made with vanilla woods and stones.
There are also a TON of changes and additions like redstone component retextures and backported models, smooth stone retextures and full blockset (i.e. Smooth Stone Bricks), backported note block noises for copper blocks, and missing stairs, walls, and slabs for certain building blocks (like prismarine and quartz).
For new content, there are new materials like Aluminum, Nickel, and Invar.
Aluminum is building-centric, with a new armor and toolset centered around benefits to building -- along with a blockset that looks quite industrial and/or brutalist or even office-like.
Nickel is a new conductive and heat-resistant metal, being able to be used in the making of new redstone components like the Redstone Diode and the Redstone Fuse.
Invar is a new ancient alloy made with Ancient Scrap (was Netherite Scrap), Iron, and Nickel. Invar is the "immutable substance", used to make durable armor that provides FLAT DAMAGE REDUCTION and tools that can pierce armor and damage resistances. It can also be used to make new Invar Weights, blocks that are effected by gravity and will fall after a certain amount of time (dictated by the amount of Invar used to craft them).
There is also some misc content! This mostly includes the extra little decor like Tiki Torches or Laterite... and Incense!
Incense are a new type of torch-like block that can be placed down and lit to provide healing-centric buffs in an area around them! Acrid Incense will provide a damage bonus, and make you heal when dealing damage! Bland Incense will nullify certain effects, and provide healing when a effect is nullified (effect list can be configured). Bright Incense will provide a bonus to experience gains, and heal you upon collecting experience. Fresh Incense is more boring, providing passive regeneration when wet (when in water or rain). Sweet Incense provides bonus nutrition and saturation when eating food, and will heal you for a portion of food eaten! And lastly, Verdant Incense will increase the effectiveness of all healing, synergizing well with the other incenses!
Incense are temporary, burning out after one minute. This can be mitgated by making a Censer! These blocks function as the lantern-equivalant to incense, having their placement logic (ie. can be hung from certain blocks) and can also be waterlogged (works really well for Fresh Censers!). They won't burn out, affect a larger area, but are only half as effective as Incense, making their temporary counterpart not entirely useless once you obtain a Censor!
There are other bits and bobs all throughout the mod that are not explicitly stated here, and it's your job to go and look for them! Have fun!
