Cursed Difficulty
Adds an option at the start of the game to increase your difficulty for just you and giving you extra awards as well.
About this Mod
The idea for this mod was to add a way to increase difficulty without overhauling the game or having an effect on players whom didn't want it, making it optional with even optional rewards but make it more vanilla feeling and balanced instead. While the inspiration for this mod was really good for this, it still added a lot more complexity and content to the idea that goes far beyond what would fit well with a vanilla+ modpack or setting. So, I made this mod where upon joining the world for the first time, the game will ask if you want the cursed difficulty or not, giving you a brief small summary of what it is about. Everything in this mod is also configure-able.
The Curses:
- Double damage & Knockback from all sources.
- If set on fire, it will last forever until doused manually.
- All Neutral mobs will be aggro'd against you within a 28 blocks radius with LOS, 4 blocks without.
- You cannot sleep in beds.

- Triple experience from Mobs.
15% chance for an unique drop from Mobs (Additional 15% chance check for rarer items)

How to Install Cursed Difficulty on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.11).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Cursed Difficulty". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Cursed Difficulty server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Cursed Difficulty compatible with forge and neoforge?
Cursed Difficulty officially supports forge, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.8. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Cursed Difficulty – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Cursed Difficulty consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
