A Darker Atmosphere

Ominous Trials just got a little more ominous!
This pack brings more moody atmosphere to the Trial Chambers through more oxidized copper bulbs. The base vanilla game has many spots in the structure which don't use the "copper degredation" processor, consequently leading to fully lit chambers, and also has a lot of brighter bulbs that overpower the dimmer ones in general.

High-Lighting Features

This not only brings overall more contrast within the chamber, but gives more reason for some players to scrape the oxidation off of copper bulbs-- a mechanic which was highlighted during Minecraft Live 2023. There is also more attention drawn to trial spawners that are now more often in the dark, which emit light when activated.

How to Install Darker Trials on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended).

Set datapack Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the datapack loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Darker Trials". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Darker Trials server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
