DeepScale
Dynamically scales block hardness based on depth (Y-level). Experience realistic mining where the deeper you go, the tougher the crust becomes. Highly lightweight and modular.
About this Mod
⛏️ DeepScale | Dynamic Mining Difficulty
DeepScale is a lightweight gameplay enhancement mod that dynamically adjusts the hardness of stone-type blocks based on their Y-level (depth).
In vanilla Minecraft, stone is just as easy to break at the surface as it is near bedrock. DeepScale changes this by simulating geological pressure: the deeper you descend, the tougher the earth becomes.
✨ Features
- 📈 Pressure Scaling: Blocks gradually become harder to mine as you go deeper. Surface mining remains fast, while deep underground exploration requires more effort.
- 💎 Meaningful Progression: High-tier pickaxes and Efficiency enchantments become essential for deep-slate layers, giving more value to late-game gear.
- ⚙️ Zero-Waste Design: True to our modular philosophy, this mod adds zero new blocks or items. It modifies existing mechanics seamlessly and keeps your inventory clean.
- 🌍 Universal Compatibility: Designed to work with modded pickaxes and various stone types from other mods.
🚜 How it Works
- Surface Level: Standard vanilla mining speed.
- Deep Underground: As you pass Y=0 and head towards bedrock, geological pressure increases block resistance.
- Bedrock Proximity: The world feels solid and challenging. Only the strongest tools will maintain peak efficiency here.

DeepScale server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is DeepScale compatible with fabric?
DeepScale officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with DeepScale – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if DeepScale consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
