Desire Paths
A mod that will slowly convert a grass block into a desire path block and eventually a dirt path block when repeatedly stepped on. Now configurable! Just open the config file and change the Step Count Maximum, Step Count for Low Height, and Step Resetter!
About this Mod
For those who have the desire to make their own path, get to steppin'!
This mod aims to let the player naturally carve a path in their world. It will slowly convert a grass block into a desire path block and eventually a dirt path block when repeatedly stepped on. This not only works for the player, but villagers too!
As the block is stepped on, it converts from a grass block into a desire path block. If stepped on enough, it will convert into a dirt path. If you don't step on the desire path block for a long time, it will eventually regrow back into a grass block. Once it is a dirt path, it will stay that way until broken, just like vanilla dirt paths!
This is my first real attempt at a Minecraft mod. I hope you enjoy! :)
- Currently only supporting 1.21.3 and 1.21.4 with Fabric 0.16.9+

How to Install Desire Paths on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.4).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Desire Paths". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Desire Paths server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.4). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Desire Paths compatible with fabric?
Desire Paths officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.4, 1.21.3. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Desire Paths – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Desire Paths consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
