About this Mod
🩸 DexHunt — A Deadly Game of Deception
DexHunt transforms Minecraft multiplayer into a Dexter-inspired PvP investigation game where trust means nothing, and every kill counts.
One player becomes Dexter, the cold-blooded hunter. Others are Potentials, who can turn into Killers after certain conditions are met.
Your goal depends on your role — but remember: only Dexter’s personal kills truly matter.

⚔️ Core Gameplay
- Dexter — The vigilante killer hunter. Must eliminate every Killer personally to win.
Uses a Dexter Knife and Syringe for tracking and stunning targets. - Potentials — Regular players who can become Killers by killing 1 player or 20 mobs.
- Once activated:
- They are tagged as [KILLER] in the TAB list.
- Every Dexter receives a Killer Compass pointing directly at them.
🧭 Killer Compass System
The compass is a key mechanic in DexHunt and behaves intelligently:
- When a Killer is active, Dexter gains a Killer Compass for that player.
- If a Killer dies by Dexter’s hand, their compass disappears permanently (they’re put into Spectator mode).
- If a Killer dies from anything else (fall damage, mobs, other players, etc.), the compass:
- Stays in Dexter’s inventory or
- Returns automatically if removed when the Killer isn’t a spectator.
- Dexter keeps all his compasses unless he delivers the kill.
💀 Victory Conditions
- 🩸 Dexter Wins — only when all Killers are personally killed by Dexter.
No automatic win from natural or indirect deaths. - 🔪 Killers Win — when they collectively reach a kill goal (default: 200 mob kills).
- ♻️ The game resets automatically at round end (roles cleared, compasses removed, UI reset).
🛠️ Commands
DexHunt uses a simple role management command system:

- Killing 1 player, or
- Killing 20 mobs
⚪ /dexrole <player> none

- This is the starting role for all players
- No special abilities
- No tracked progression

DEXHUNT server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is DEXHUNT compatible with forge?
DEXHUNT officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with DEXHUNT – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if DEXHUNT consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
