About Etcetera

Features

  • Bismuth :
Bismuth is a new ore found in the nether, when mined it gives experience like quartz, but its main focus is decoration and utilities. Bismuth blocks change color slowly over time and Bismuth Ingots can apply this kind of iridescence onto other vanilla blocks. Bismuth is also used to craft a Chisel, that can turn blocks into their chiseled form or remove iridescence, a Hammer that can either be used for combat or to crack blocks (both the se items use a .json file format for their "recipes" for mod compat) and a Wrench, a survival friendly debug stick that can modify blockstates in a limited fashion

  • Handbell : The Handbell is new item that is obtained from villagers and can call your pets or following allays to you when ringed if they are not sitting, and give them the glowing effect

  • Drum : A new noteblock like block that changes sound based on the block below and where the player hits the its top

  • Dice : A simple and compact redstone randomizer

  • Frame : A new block that assists builders into making, well, frameworks. It can be placed and replaced later without needing to be broken

  • Prickly Can : A storage block made with cactus that can delete all the items inside with a click

  • Bouquet : New items crafted with small flowers, it can only be placed in pots and on vases

  • Vase : A new block made with rooted dirt, it removes the offset of every block placed on top of it to make for great decoration

  • Item Stand & Glowing Item Stand : Like an Item Frame, but in the middle of a block. You can click it with Glass to cover the item for bonus aesthetic points

  • Squid Lamp : A lamp made with Glow Ink Sacks, can be placed like a torch, glows much brighter underwater

  • Tidal Helmet : New armor piece crafted with a Turtle Helmet and a Heart Of the Sea, its a much stronger version of the Turtle Helmet that gives Conduit Power, but also grants more Durability and Strength. This also comes with a new ui element that indicates how much conduit power you have left

  • Turtle Raft : New boat type entity, it can only old one passenger, but can be dyed like leather armor and can be adorned with banners. Its resistant to water bubble columns and can also fit through one block gaps

  • Crumbling Stone : A new type of stone that crumbles. When standing, jumping or hitting it with a projectile it starts breaking until you're left with no stone... It can be waxed to use as a decoration though!

  • Leveled Stone : Used to make Crumbling Stone, mainly used for decoration with it

  • Light Bulb & Tinted Light Bulb : A new light source that can be right-clicked to change the light value. Tinted Light Bulbs randomly flicker

  • Chapples & Golden Chapples : Chapples are a new Mooshroom-like Chicken mob, they can be spawned from a Eggple (found in Plains Villages and Pillager Outposts) and they lay Apples instead of Eggs. When a Chapple is struck by lightning or when it's spawned from a Golden Eggple (found in Bastions) it becomes a Golden Chapple, which has only a chance to lay Golden Apples instead of regular Apples

  • Cotton : Cotton is a new Crop, its seeds are traded by Villagers and found in Plains Villages, it gives Cotton when fully grown, which can be turned into Cotton Clothes, String or Wool

  • Cotton Clothes : New armor like items that come in 16 colors + Wandering Trader exclusive variant, sometimes have custom models and are slimmer than armor to fit your skin better. They cannot be enchanted and give no armor points, but also have no durability

  • New Tags :
villager_can_pickup -> items that can be picked up by Villagers
hammerable & chisellable -> Blocks that can be Hammered or Chiseled (these Blocks will play a sound when right-clicked with the respective tool. This does not affect the recipe types of hammers and chisels, but only if they make a sound or not. For example the Anvil is in the Hammerable tag even if it can't be crushed via hamer, but this allows players to be able to hit it making hammering noises for roleplay purposes)
non_modifiable -> Blocks that cannot be modified by a Wrench
offset_remover -> Blocks that remove the XY offset of other Blocks placed on top of them
concrete, glazed_terracotta, sweaters, hats -> item tags that contain all colored versions of their specific item
all_concrete, all_terracotta, all_glazed_terracotta, all_wool, all_glass_blocks, all_glass_panes -> item tags that contain all colored versions of their specific item + their Bismuth Iridescent variant

Frequently Asked Questions

Etcetera server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Etcetera compatible with fabric and forge?

Etcetera officially supports fabric, forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Etcetera – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Etcetera consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
