Farmer's Respite Unofficial Port
Tea addon for Farmer's Delight, originally created by lumpazl. Unofficial port to 1.21.1 NeoForge.
About this Mod

🡲 Farmer's Respite: NeoForge 1.21.1:
Link to original mod: Farmer's Respite for Forge 1.20.1 (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/farmers-respite).
This port was made to update Farmer's Respite, last updated for Forge 1.20.1, to NeoForge 1.21.1. This project was originally created by Umpaz, HoboJoe, and SoyTutta, and this port is not affiliated with the original developers. Please do not contact them for support or issues of this version.
It has been over a year since the last update to Farmer's Respite for 1.20.1, and development seems to have stalled. While I have read there are plans for an eventual rework and update, I wanted to be able to play with this mod and its compatible recipes found in other mods (i.e. Collector's Reap, Respiteful, etc.) in 1.21.1. This port was originally made for personal use only, but I felt making it available to the public would be helpful in case anyone else wanted to play or use it to update their own mods while waiting for the rework. This will most likely be retired and taken down when the updated official version releases, or if the request to do so is made by the original developers.
A guide for developers, gallery images, source code, and feature updates will be coming soon; the mod will be updated as I fix the last few bugs and add the last features from the old version. Once this is done, I'll polish this page up! But, it should be singleplayer and survival-ready (haven't tested multiplayer yet, make a backup if you try that...mod is most likely required on server and client). If you choose to add it to an existing 1.21.1 world, be aware that tea and coffee will only generate in new chunks.
🡲 Port Permission
Please see attached permission and images at the bottom of this page; permission has been granted by an original developer, chrysanthcowom, to make this port and post it for NeoForge 1.21.1. Moved to the bottom as it was quite long.
📖 About:
Farmer's Respite is an addon mod for Farmer's Delight based around adding tea and brewing mechanics, along with a new workstation for brewing: the kettle!
The kettle has an upgraded, dynamic GUI that supports item and fluid inputs and outputs, supports full automation via its sides (hoppers, pipes from other mods, etc.) and requires heat from below, which can come from many sources (such as lava, magma, Create blaze burners, Farmer's Delight stoves, Brewin' and Chewin' heating casks, and more). Try hanging the kettle from a chain or placing it above a flame! The mod also includes a few fluids and some effects of its own (Caffeinated, which keeps those pesky phantoms away and gives some boosts at the cost of being able to sleep, and a new effect called Sleepy), tea and coffee bush crops, decorative blocks, and fluids for existing Farmer's Delight items like hot cocoa, melon juice, and apple cider. If Create or Ponder is installed, a ponder for the kettle is included (coming soon). Sable/Create: Aeronautics, JEI, Jade, Thirst Was Taken, and other integrations are now included, as well as support for other Delight and food-related mods (more are being added over time).
It is highly recommended to install mods in the optional dependency section as long as they are updated for 1.21.1 (note, most food mods not currently implemented); Farmer's Respite includes more fluids and items for each mod which only become available when these are installed. JEI is recommended for viewing recipes. Jade is recommended for viewing crop and kettle information in realtime.
⚠️ Upgrading Note (1.20.1 -> 1.21.1)
From my testing, if you choose to upgrade a 1.20.1 world to 1.21.1 with the original Farmer's Respite, all blocks, crops, and items will mostly carry over. However, tea kettles in the inventory will be wiped of their fluid contents, and kettles placed in the world will lose their fluid contents as well, while their item contents should remain. New coffee bush and tea bush features will only generate in new chunks, now in any biome tagged as a swamp, jungle, or the basalt deltas. Upgrading should not corrupt anything, but please still make a backup of your world before doing so to be safe. The mod is also currently untested in multiplayer besides loading in and placing/interacting with the blocks, and may or may not work there. Adding the mod to an existing 1.21.1 world is safe.
🔧 Remaining features:
Many features from the original mod have been implemented, along with many bug fixes and some new minor features. Here's what's left in the coming updates:
- A much better configuration (hopefully for everything the mod adds)
- Advancements (originals from the mod plus some new ones)
- Vanilla recipe book for the kettle GUI (for now, use JEI)
- JEI bookmarking of recipes (otherwise, JEI 100% done)
- REI/EMI support (mostly untested, but EMI seems to work when paired with JEI)
- Cleaning up the translations file/other language translations
- More Create-compat recipes/more recipes in general
- Ponder scene for the kettle
- Compatibility with more optional dependencies (Thirst was Taken, Create, Delight addons, etc.)
- Tutorial for mod and datapack developers on implementing pouring/brewing recipes
- Dynamic fluid durability bar tinting based on fluid texture for the kettle
- New drinks with the new "Sleepy" effect (effect complete, drinks coming soon)
- A way to also mute the new kettle boiling sound
- Buckets for all fluids, in-world fog/color overlays when swimming in them
- Full Respiteful port/integration (i.e. full Neapolitan support)
- Villager & dispenser integration
- Dedicated Jade support (currently works, but isn't quite where I want it for the crops)
- More/decorative kettles & options (oxidizing, dying, etc.)
- And much more!
🐞 Bug Fixes
The 1.20.1 version was in a beta state and featured a few bugs. These have been fixed in this port, and a few additions have been made:
- The kettle now will begin brewing immediately when all recipe requirements are met, not only when items are inserted. The kettle will also no longer crash & will always drop correctly.
- Coffee's growth via parasitization in the Overworld has been made configurable, still on by default. I personally love this unique challenge to growing a new crop, but now you can choose if you want to deal with it or not. Still grows automatically in the Nether. May or may not work on servers, untested.
- World generation and compatibility with content like ash from the Supplementaries mod have been improved, with no additional data packs required (now built-in). Tea and coffee generate a bit more commonly in swamps, jungles, and the basalt deltas, as well as in mixed patches of wild bushes and actual plants for visibility. Tea has also been made renewable by bonemealing wild tea bushes (configurable). To adjust generation further, use a datapack.
- A new button has been added to the kettle GUI to drain liquids manually, useful for when you have a tiny bit of liquid leftover and don't want to pump it out. Configurable.
- Dedicated Thirst Was Taken support has been added for thirst/quenchness values; NBT support and drink purity is still pending, so be aware kettles will ignore water purity currently.
- The kettle makes a boiling sound while brewing. Removing the lid still mutes the whistle noise at brew completion; ability to tilt the lid to mute both is coming soon. Many more sound effects have been added to interacting with the kettle and its GUI to make it more immersive.
- Long and strong tea variants have been renamed for consistency and JEI display. They are now drinks "with milk" and "with sugar". This may change again in the future.
- Existing brewing recipes from other 1.20.1 mods should automatically work when these mods port to 1.21.1; fluids for these mods will appear if any of the Optional Dependencies below are installed. Guide for developers coming soon.
- Coffee growth and harvesting has been significantly cleaned up and made smoother.
- Tea seeds and coffee beans may now be planted in flower pots like their wild bush counterparts.
- Overall, the mod should be significantly more stable with fluid and item capabilities, but some issues may still occur. The kettle itself received the most love over everything else and should be fairly stable (keyword, should).
💻 Developers (recipes & compatability)
- Data generator support is coming soon, but a brief overview (this will be updated):
- Create a "brewing" recipe to allow fluids to be brewed with 1-2 types of items to result in a new fluid. The mod will automatically try to find an item to bottle it, and if a bucket exists for that fluid, buckets can be inserted to collect the fluid.
- If for any reason no item is found and your mod adds a fluid-container item for the resulting fluid, you may also create a "pouring" recipe which takes an input container item and fluid and allows the player to fill that item with the fluid to receive a new item. amount of that fluid from the kettle to create the filled item. It is best practice, however, to create a brewing recipe alongside a pouring recipe for each item.
- For further customization, each recipe type can exist without the other; different pouring recipes may also be added for the same fluid, and similarly different brewing recipes. Feel free to mix and match...but if some inputs are blank in JEI, you should add a brewing or pouring recipe to fill the gap!
- For reference, see data/farmersrespite/recipe/brewing/dandelion_tea.json, which has no associated pouring recipe as the mod automatically finds the final item and bottle.
- Examples/a better writeup/proper, easy datagen coming soon.

- Jade (or similar; easier viewing of crop stages (coming soon) and kettle contents)
- Thirst Was Taken (built-in thirst and quenchness values for all items; purity support coming soon)

But wait, what about upcoming features?
- Ooh, sneaky, you scrolled all the way down and found the upcoming features section. Wait, this is going to be more than a port? Maybe. Maybe not. We'll see. But if I were to add upcoming features, it totally wouldn't be more teas, more crops, a new effect, more decorative blocks, paintings, a music disc, a feast or two, 3D coaster support, a full coffee overhaul with roasting/different types, a new workstation or two for coffee/lattes/matchas, more foods, and the like...right? That would be crazy. How about the port gets finished first? Then we'll talk. (In the meantime, I may just look into adding support for Let's Do: HerbalBrews, which is another great tea mod I recommend)
- Oh, by the way. If the original Farmer's Respite updates to 1.21.1 with its own overhaul, this may be retired. This mod exists merely to fill the gap on 1.21.1; please support the original mod and its developers!
Final P.S.: Add Create: Food to your world and it'll automatically add some cool animated textures to some of the teas (not all of them, yet at least). Or don't. They're pretty snazzy, though.
🡲 Port Permission:
I have been informed and given permission that my port is allowed so long as it does not take the project's original slug, especially on other platforms. The port's existence has been acknowledged and allowed to be posted with permission from user chrysanthcow (merchantpug on CurseForge), who is a developer on the project. While not listed on the contributors of Farmer's Respite on CurseForge, this user verified they are connected to the dev team and is also a developer on Farmer's Delight Refabricated and Brewin' And Chewin'. In the event the original devs plan to continue or redevelop the mod and wish to post it, or at their request, this will be taken down; however, the original mod's primary author, lumpazl, has not updated it in nearly a year.

In addition, the original poster of the mod, lumpazl, has confirmed that there is no active development on the original mod, and that they would like to return in the future, but are unable to port it themselves:

This port preserves all the original features of the mod, fixes all of the original bugs, and claims no assets created by the original developers as its own. Please do not contact the original developers for any bugs or issues concerning this port.
