Fishing Lure
Make fishing harsher: no lure, no bite.
About this Mod
Fishing Lure is a small vanilla-friendly NeoForge mod that makes fishing rods require a lure before fish can bite.
To attach a lure, put one in your offhand and right-click with a fishing rod. The rod will get a different texture when baited, and the lure is consumed after a successful catch.
By default, rotten flesh can be used as a lure, and the list of valid lure items can be changed in the config.
Made for simple survival and beta-styled modpacks.

Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Fishing Lure officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Fishing Lure – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Fishing Lure consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
