About this Mod

Player using an aerosol can with a flint and steel on a forest

Flamethrower

This project adds a new item to game, the aerosol can! Together with a flint and steel, you can use it as a flamethrower and burn down anything with ease!

Crafting recipe of an aerosol can

  • To craft the aerosol can, place 6 irons ingots in a ring excluding the top corners, add a stone or blackstone button in the top left corner and add a tripwire to the right corner.
  • To use it as a flamethrower, hold it in your main hand with a flint and steel in your offhand and hold right click.
  • Be careful though, the durability of both the aerosol can and the flint and steel will decrease quickly when using the flamethrower.
  • The flamethrower covers all blocks in a wide range with fire and also damages mobs and players.

When installing this as a datapack, it is accompanied by a resource pack. Make sure you download and enable that too!

TODO

  • Make items respect Unbreakable tag
  • Make items respect Unbreaking enchantment
  • Add item texture to Aerosol can

Frequently Asked Questions

Flamethrower server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.10). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Flamethrower compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and neoforge and quilt?

Flamethrower officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.10, 1.21.9, 1.21.8. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Flamethrower – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Flamethrower consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
