About this Mod

The Gales&Storms Mod is a project that adds a variety of weather related features to minecraft. It started as a petition to add destructive tornadoes to the game, but I attempted to implement them in a Vanilla friendly way, which lead to a pletora of other features being developed that makes this mod comparable to a small content drop.
Tornadoes and Whirlwinds
Particle effect Whirlwinds and sometimes even sky high tornadoes can spawn naturally in many suitable biomes. They are ablle to capture most types of entities, causing them to spin around in the air until crashing of being dropped. These winds will also be able to destroy and reshape some of the natural terrrain like dirt and sand, and completely strip vegetation off of the map, and as they move they will accumulate debris that will deal damage to anyone that gets hit by it.
If you prefer a less hazardous experience, the mod offers gamerules to make Tornadoes purely cosmetic, without being able to destroy blocks at all and customize if they can catch players, mods or neither. On the other hand the mod also offers options to make Tornadoes destroy basically anything they touch if you rather have something chaotic in your game.
Tornadoes can be escaped using certain items like Enderl Pearls, Rockets with Elytra, Equipping Maces with Density or using a Riptide Trident if there is water in the tornado, which brings us to the next feature...
Elemental Types
Tornadoes will adquire certain properties depending on the type of biome they appear in of the terrain they go over
Fire Tornadoes= If a tornado goes over lava, they will burn flamable objects in their path and set captured mobs ablaze
Chill Tornadoes= If a tornado appears in a cold enough biome or goes over snow and ice, it will be able to Freeze over water bodies and make players and entities trap feel cold like powdered snow
Soul Tornadoes= If a tornado appears near soul sand it will begin to absorb the souls of the damned and use them to inflict Withering on the captured entities
Tornado Prevention
Bells are now able to detect strong winds nearby, which will cause them to swing frantically and let all players in the area know if there is a Tornado coming to town, by highlighting all mobs in the area that could be affected.
Not just that, we have also added the Wind Sponge item which will suck the air out of any incoming tornadoes, allowing you to protect yourself and your home base.
Hail has also been added and can occur at any moment during a rain or thunderstorm, it will damage players hit by the ice blocks and ocassionally cover the terrain it lands on with snow. Bells can also detect Hailstorms and warn players, and Mods naturally attempt to flee and take cover from both Hail and Tornadoes
Winds in a bag
You can also use a bundle, golden blocks and a wind sponge to craft a Wing Bad, which will absorb wind from tornadoes nearby or from the fumes of furnaces drying up wind sponges. Wind Bags will allow you to summon your very own Tamed Gale, a player friendly, non destructive tornado that is perfect for trapping enemies inside of it.
Up in the Clouds
A new structure has also been added, the Perenail Clouds. These are small formations of walkable cloud blocks placed all over the world high in the sky, ocassionally they hide loot in them, the higher they are the better the rewards!. However be careful making your way up, not only can Breezes often spawn in the clouds but the Cloud structures can fill themselves with rain and hail and ocassionally even cause lighting strikes.
Cloud Blocks Behave like Scafolding, allowing players to go through them and also up and down them. You could adquire some with shears and use them as you please. You could even use a bottle to adquire a Bottled Cloud which will allow you to deploy a temporary rising cloud platform that you can use to push mobs or yourself upwards, of will it with rain and hail to make for localized hazards and traps!.
Giant Beanstalks
You can also get a new gift from your friendly sniffer. They might dig out some ancient beans which you can sow and grow like any other crop. But instead of giving you food, once the beans are large enough they will rapidly growh into a massive beanstalk. Beanstalks can be climbed like ladders and they will often grow leaves on their sides which you can go through and stand on. Landing on a beanstalk leave will negate all fall damage too, making them perfect for climbing up to the Perenial Clouds
