A frozen alien world on top, but underground... lies a different story.

💡 Latest Updates

Glacidus has finally returned for Minecraft 26.1.2 for a very early pre-alpha. It contains completely redone polished terrain generation and some nice additions that fit in alongside the new vanilla content. The mod is by no means complete, but we would like to provide some kind of release to start with.

In the future, the mod direction will massively change, and textures will be redone.

It is highly recommended you keep music, sounds, and ambient noises on for the full experience.

📚 Introduction

This won the Modoff 2: Reforged competition in 2019, taking 1st place!

Frozen world on top and underground lies a different story. A strange alien planet with bizarre structure, and at a glance, impossible conditions to be habbitable. The further down you travel, the warmer it gets. Foliage and water can be found along with other natural elements the deeper you go. This planet was once in an orbit in a star system, however. It unfortunately fell out of orbit, parting ways and drifting through space. Its atmosphere is very thin. The planet's core is what provides the underground's warmth, and ability to support life.

📦 Modpack Permissions

Yeah, go ahead unless told otherwise. Just make sure to give proper credit and you're good.

The Surface

Glacidus Surface

The surface is the first thing you will see once you enter Glacidus. Its surface is extremely cold and the gravity is low. The surface is medium to high in difficulty, and in the full release, intended to be the 2nd most dangerous of all the layers. Natural generation currently consists of bulbous rock formations and spikes composed of Frozen Antinatric Stone. Dead Lumicia stalks can be found littered amongst the ground, hinting at the life that once stood.

The surface is invaded with alien mobs that are immune to this cold environment due to their thick rough skin. They live in holes they've created in the giant spikes on the surface and wander around bewilderedly. Frigispitors love the Glacium, and attack invaders with chunks of frost. Morpous, a type of bionic life form can also be found wandering aimlessly.

The Underground

Glacidus Underground

Warmer than the surface. Dark, glowing, and brimming with life. Down here is the most habitable zone of the planet. You can find natural plants called Lumicia, the name of all natural terrain grasses, dirt, and overgrowth such as mosses and vines. You can also find purple looking water down here; its color comes from its environment. Place Crysium Bulbs made from the Crysium Deposits found on the top of the caverns to light your way through the darkness. Mobs found down here are strange looking and aggressive-neutral and unstable, meaning they can turn hostile at any moment, or if you attack them they will fight back. Stay alert, as Drop Spiders may land on you at any moment and deal heavy damage on impact. A deeper, more cave-like wind sound will play and loop on this layer.

The Core

Glacidus Core

The final layer will be intended to be the last and most difficult and challenging area the player will discover. Bright, hot, and dangerous, with many deadly hostile mobs. Going down here unprepared, the player will not make it very far. Hostiles of the layer will target you once they spot you. There are safe zones, like cave openings or even your own blocks, to shelter yourself. Water and Glacium will evaporate. A raid can be found here.

In later releases, Once you enter, you will receive the Heat Exhaustion debuff if you don't have the proper armor. Wood, leaves, and cloth will immediately start to burn anywhere you place them down here.

Creating a Portal in Glacidus

Portal may change in the future since it is a little weird. You will need exactly 30 packed ice blocks and 1 glowstone block. Once you are done building the portal break the glowstone block.
