About this Mod
This highly configurable mod is made with modpacks in mind and attempts to remedy a long-standing balance issue: the /back, /home, and (to a lesser extent) /rtp commands. These commands, while useful, often cheapen deaths and encourage a riskier playstyle that some modpack devs and players may not like.
Introducing: the golden potato.

When consumed, this will teleport the user back to their last death. By default, it is crafted with a potato surrounded in gold (similar to other vanilla golden foods). It can be configured to cost gold-blocks (enchanted-variant), to be uncraftable and only available as loot, or disabled entirely. These configs are true for all three foods in this mod.

The golden spud, crafted using a poisonous potato and an emerald in addition to gold, teleports the player to the last bed they slept in.

The golden chorus fruit randomly teleports you somewhere safe within 5000 blocks.
The golden potato can be found in villages; the golden spud in ancient cities; and the golden chorus fruit in end cities (configurable). I would highly suggest you read the config file for this mod as there are other factors as well that can be changed.

Golden Potato server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Golden Potato compatible with forge?
Golden Potato officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Golden Potato – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Golden Potato consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
