About this Mod
About
Welcome to Grassblock Essentials! This mod is a relatively simple baseline for new multiplayer servers that allows for more community and QOL changes to the vanilla game. Currently included features are:
Ores & Ingots
Basic Ores
- Tin
- Silver
- Platinum
Alloys
- Bronze
Items
- Backpack - Wear on back and can be seen on player model (3d model). Configurable hotkey to open (default "B"). Dyeable. Can be worn in it's own slot/does not waste armour slot. Can be crafted with additional leather+gold to increase size 1 row at a time. Max 8 rows. Backpack can be placed on ground if in hand and right clicked. Shift+right click to pick it back up. When on ground right clicking will open bag to get contents. First tier of bag is just leather and string. Upgrades are leather + gold.
- Coins - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Coins have a crafting recipe, which is disabled in config by default. Each coin tier should have setting to disable entirely, and setting to determine worth. (ie. silver= 100 //how many bronze is silver worth). Option for coins to drop from killing mobs or found in world chests, rarity and which coins drop in config. Mob drop disabled by default.
- Bars - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald. Worth 50 of its matching coin. Emerald bar is worth 5 emeralds. Has craftable recipe but disabled by default. Can be made from coins in Currency Smelter. Value also configurable.
Partnership & Hosting
The creation of this project is happily sponsored by Nodecraft. They graciously provide hardware in order to test these projects in multiplayer environments, as well as hosting some packs as part of their one-click install feature.
If you want to host a server, and need stability for sensible cost, I absolutely recommend them. I've been using them for around a decade prior to any sort of partnership as a paying customer. If you use the links in this blurb, or code brindlydotart, I might get a small commission (neat) but you definitely get a 30% discount on first order.

Grassblock Essentials server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.12.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Grassblock Essentials compatible with forge?
Grassblock Essentials officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.12.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Grassblock Essentials – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Grassblock Essentials consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
