About this Mod
Hardcore Winter
(Heavy snow blizzard)
The storm doesn't end.
Crops die under open sky. Most herds are gone. The cold builds while you stand in the open — slowly at first, then it starts to hurt.
Heat sources keep you alive. Not all of them reach as far as you think.
There are ways to grow food again. There are places underground that the storm forgot. There are books left by people who came before you, and they had time to write things down.
This mod is for experienced survival players who want a world that fights back from day one.
What changes
- Weather is permanent. The blizzard never clears.
- Cold exposure builds over time and eventually damages you.
- Farming requires more than just water and sunlight.
- Animal populations are severely thinned.
- The world has secrets buried below the surface.
- Leaves rot and grass withers. Nothing green survives long without shelter.
- Snow piles up overnight and melts back during the day.
- Mild,Normal,Heavy and Blizzard weathers. Every day is different!
- The lantern keeps you warm, lights your way, and fights off what's out there — but it burns through fuel to do it. Right-click to block incoming attacks — fire particles swirl around you while active, draining 1% fuel per second and weakening nearby enemies.
Lantern Mod Compatibility — When first-person animation mods like Punchy, FirstPerson, or Not Enough Animations are installed, the lantern and its arm are no longer drawn twice. Vanilla rendering is suppressed in first person so the other mod's body model handles holding the lantern cleanly.
🖥️ Server Hosting
Server-compatible: Run it on a Fabric dedicated server with no extra setup. All spawn logic, cold mechanics, worldgen, and recipes run server-side.
Players must install the mod client-side too. Without it: the sled won't render, the cold status HUD won't appear, and snow particles will be missing. Make the mod required to join.
📦 Modpack & Redistribution
Modpack-friendly: Hardcore Winter works alongside most Fabric mods. Just don't combine it with mods that also change the overworld, ice spikes biome, or snowy villages — they'll conflict.
